August 16, 200916 yr Can we not bash each others sports please? Consider this a warning if I have to read more of why American football is better or worse then football/ soccer I'm going to consider it spam and deal with it accordingly. - Stevepole I agree. But to be fair, the creator of this thread opened that can of worms in his post. Hey, you hate American football? Well tell me why, no, don't just post, "It sucks go soccer yay!" but give me some reasons why you don't like it. Maybe we should just start over and make a thread for American football fans to hold a discussion. Your right he did open the debate up but when it starts to get into "oh football takes more skill" that is what I'm considering spam which for a moment there thats what happened. If some of you really want to debate the differences between the two footballs create it's own topic for it like "Football Vs. American Football" and don't flame. I want to see this topic as a clean discussion about American football like it was before it was accidently deleted.
August 22, 200916 yr Rugby is a bunch of disorganized violence with a point system. I don't understand the game but you have to admit to someone who has never seen it it could look like that. Either that or you just need a life and you are coming here to try to agitate. Americans thought that was a joke as well. So please don't compare our product(College and NFL American Football) to the NFL Europe.
August 22, 200916 yr I'm not really a fan of watching the game, for me it falls in the same category as soccer. Boring as hell to watch, great fun to play :) I used to play when I was a kiddie, where we'd take a crack at each position. Naturally I was a kicker, but it got pretty boring sitting on the bench for 95% of the game, so I said I didn't want to do it anymore and got dropped! On the plus side, I've been invited to a punting trial :) It's pretty much a bunch of old yank blokes come to Australia at the end of the AFL/VFL season and meet up with a bunch of veteran and rookie AFL/VFL/TAC players to see our kicking skills. The theory is (if we are good enough, which most obviously are to be invited) and have the right attitudes we then get invitations to trials with individual teams. I feel american football requires a higher level of talent in an individual skill over a a lot of other sports due to it's positional nature. In other sports with less substitions and a more continous game you are required to be more of a jack of all trades. As an example, somebody who can punt it 80 yards to the coffin corner 10/10 times would probably be near-useless at full forward or centre half forward in AFL.
August 23, 200916 yr I'm a big football fan too. Hmmm...where to start? I'm a die hard Cowboy's fan even though I get really frustrated with them sometimes...*Cough* Romo *Cough  I like NCAA too, My favorite team is the Longhorns but I like alot of other teams like the Sooners, the Gators, the Hurricanes, and the Tigers. Haha I'll even throw Notre Dame in there. I play Texas 3A high School Football. I'm a Halfback (Running back) and Strong Safety. I play Madden alot, infact I just finished a franchise that I went through 30 seasons on...(Won 20 Superbowls haha I am uber nub. : ) I've been to a bunch of Dallas Cowboy games but my favorite would have to be the game that emmit smith broke the rushing record against the sea hawks. ( Still lost that game but it's all good) And that's all i can think of right now.
August 23, 200916 yr ... You're a Texan that likes the Sooners? Are you kidding me? They're worse than A&M! I only really watch college football anymore. I'm not as interested in NFL, plus I live in Lubbock (AKA Texas Tech) so I can watch good NCAA games pretty easy. More exciting for me, although I'm almost a college kid myself so that's a factor. I'm a Longhorn fan myself, and then Tech. It's hard not to get excited when your team can pull something like last year (Crabtree, haha). The only problem with the NCAA is that the whole system should be more like the NFL. The BCS champions are rarely real champions. Oh well. Most of my friends are in high school football (we're 5A), but our team is terrible. We were alright in the 80's, and we can usually beat most of the schools in our region, but for the past couple years Odessa-Permian has thrashed us, dragging us out of competition for anything near state. Bleh. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Bleh. OMG Texas Vs Tech made me hate tech so much, but I became a big Crabtree fan...lol. Yeah the only thing I like about the Sooners is that they are an explosive offense that averaged like 50 points a game last year, fun to watch unless there playing Texas. Oh and BTW don't get too upset because Odessa-Permian has been an elite team for like forever lol.
August 25, 200916 yr I read somewhere that roethlisberger makes $100,000 every 3 snaps. New England is the closest team to me, but I'm not that much of a fan of football.
