August 14, 200916 yr Hey, I'm very sorry but I accidentally deleted your football thread. I was working on the forums I've tried to retrieve it but it seems to have gone for good. Phil Lol :wall: Personally I am a HUGE football fan, I'm really big into NCAA, but I do like watching NFL. I live In Tuscaloosa, Alabama, home of the Alabama Crimson Tide . I LOVE SEC football, I love to see our conference dominate, regardless of our rivals. But enough about me, I want to see that there are actual football fans on these forums. What kind of football do you like? What are your favorite teams? Who are your picks for the playoffs this year? What teams do you hate? I really don't care what you talk about, I just want to know I'm not alone on here lol. Hey, you hate American football? Well tell me why, no, don't just post, "It sucks go soccer yay!" but give me some reasons why you don't like it. maybe some of you play on your local/HS teams, what possition? How good are you? Dreams of earning a scholarship? I just want some football talk, nothing specific, you guys just give me some good conversation. The season is JUST around the corner and I for one am excited as hell, hopefully someone else here is too.
August 14, 200916 yr I love football, especially NCAA football. O-H-I-O!!! As an Ohio State student, I have no idea how I couldn't be obsessed with football. Not that big on the NFL though, but being a Brown's fan probably has something to do with that.

Ha, man I know you HATE my conference, you guys are always a great regular season team but it seems like the bowl season lay-off gets to you guys. I was really pulling for ya'll last year in the Fiesta bowl, should've won it.. Oh well, with you guys it's just reload and try again.
August 14, 200916 yr Okay.... 1. The teams take 15 minutes to line up in the middle of the field. 2. They run at each other and one team moves the ball a few yard. 3. Five minute break. 4. Reapeat steps 2-3 20 times. 5. 15 minute break. 6. Repeat steps 2-3 20 times. At least Soccer, basketball and lacrosse( \ ) have constant action, football is just downright boring.

Um I think you might not have been watching football man. Idk what you mean by it takes them 15 minutes to line up in the middle of the field, that never happens, they never line up in the middle of the field for any reason. They don't run at each other, they try and get by each other, not to mention there is a such thing as a "pass" play, where they don't run the ball, they throw it to a "wide reciever". There is no five minute break, the "No-huddle offense" is very popular these days where as soon as the ball is spotted the team hikes the ball immediatly to catch the defense off-guard. Their are no 15 minute breaks, there is a half-time, but I think almost every sport has a half-time. Like I said though man, I don't think it was football you were watching.

August 14, 200916 yr Doh! Bah, no sport has action like American football does. Sure other sports play without pads, but pads give players a false sense of security. They literally run full speed into each other. If pads were so pansy there wouldn't be as many injuries or knockouts as there are. [hide=BIG hits, THIS is American Football. August 14, 200916 yr The problem is for me why i dont like it, there isnt much tactics in it. If youre a good fighter you can play football, all you need to do is learn to throw. If you know how to run, you can play football, all you need to learn is how to catch. There's tons of route running, blocking techniques, rips, swim moves, you have to know the other team's coverage schemes... Thats stuff discussed in the dressing?room? I'm talking about how to do an Aka/Zidane to wtfpwn the other teams Left defender so you can run to the backline and put the ball up high for the Mid offense guy so he can try to score just for the other teams keeper to make a dive and grab the ball out of the air and requiring some skill to come down unharmed when you dont have cushions to protect you. Or you could pull a Brian Westbrook and get a handoff deep in the back field, and then when the offensive line collapses in and four guys come at you you can spin off one of them, run another over, charge down the field weaving through defensive backs and moving so that your team's wide receivers can set up some blocks down low and then run into the endzone. Until you find out the other team are actually good runners and they berserk at you and bring you all down [hide]Felix, je moeder.Je moeder felixJe vader, felix.Felix, je oma.Felix, je ongelofelijk gave pwnaze avatar B)Felix, je moeder.[/hide]
August 15, 200916 yr You guys dissing football can't say it doesn't take skill when you guys have obviously never played it yourselves.
August 15, 200916 yr I love football, and it's the only major sport where I find the professional league more interesting than the college leagues. I'm a Vikings fan, even though they've managed to break my heart every year. If we can get our QB issues fixed, we'd be a Super Bowl threat.
August 15, 200916 yr You guys dissing football can't say it doesn't take skill when you guys have obviously never played it yourselves. Not to mention Football (soccer) takes a lot less skill. I mean, you're just running around with a ball. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198

Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

Yeah, but in Sports where there's more contact allowed, it's a lot harder. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198

If you know how to run, you can play football, all you need to learn is how to catch. That is the dumbest post I've ever read in my life. If you don't like football and you're going to give an uninformed reason why, then just DON'T POST. I don't go on the soccer threads and say I don't like it because it's boring, even though it is.
August 15, 200916 yr Can we not bash each others sports please? Consider this a warning if I have to read more of why American football is better or worse then football/ soccer I'm going to consider it spam and deal with it accordingly. - Stevepole

I leave for like 2 hours and come back to a flame war, I tried to let people explain why they don't like football but I should have known better.

Consider this a warning if I have to read more of why American football is better or worse then football/ soccer I'm going to consider it spam and deal with it accordingly. - Stevepole I agree. But to be fair, the creator of this thread opened that can of worms in his post. Hey, you hate American football? Well tell me why, no, don't just post, "It sucks go soccer yay!" but give me some reasons why you don't like it. Maybe we should just start over and make a thread for American football fans to hold a discussion.
August 15, 200916 yr You guys dissing football can't say it doesn't take skill when you guys have obviously never played it yourselves. Not to mention Football (soccer) takes a lot less skill. Skills needed for Football - passing, shooting, heading, ball control, goal keeping, volleying, tackling, heading & tactical knowledge. Skills needed for American Football - passing, catching, kicking, tackling & tactical knowledge Those are simplistic terms but you get the idea. Now I won't for a second doubt that American football is a game of skill but I wouldn't say it took a greater amount of skill than football. The catching and passing in American football are natural things that most people learn to some degree anyway where as football's skill set is more specific to the sport. I don't mean that as a way to put down American Football but I do believe it's true. Does that make either better? Not really, it's a completely personal thing. He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)
August 15, 200916 yr Author Does that make either better? Not really, it's a completely personal thing. I think that's what people forget is most important, it's all opinion which is better. The most exciting and fun moments of my life have happend in side of Bryant-Denny stadium but I know not everyone finds football as exciting as me.
