Is dragonfire shieild worth it?

Most people will say it is not.

Especially for training (which you won't do on very high leveled monsters) you don't really need the defence it provides, and the defender offers offence.

For some slayer tasks it can be handy (higher level monsters which require defence), and of course when you are hunting dragons. There are also some GWD setups in which it is favorable, but I'm no expert on that.

But I like it, though I rarely use it

I <3 my Dragonfire Shield.

I, myself think it's worth it. Since i love range tanking at minigames, and slay a lot of dragons. It's all around such a useful item if you have the money.

What do you do in day-to-day 'scaping? Unless you do dragon hunting and LOTS of it, no. The only exception is boss hunting of course, but a BSS serves as an effective and relatively cheap replacement. Bosses where a DFS can be used are the GWD bosses (although not always - people not tanking at bandos should always use a rune defender if they're using a whip), DK's and a few more. One last thing it can be good for is range/mage tanking.

You really have to be dedicated to one of those tasks to make a DFS anywhere near the cash invested, especially since you've already got a rune defender. Generally the answer to your question would be no, it's quite overrated.

When it cost about 13m maybe, at todays prices hell no.

If your looking for a shield try blessed spirit shield or crystal shield both are cheaper and depending on the situation better.

If you need defense for tanking or otherwise, the Blessed Spirit Shield is just as good for about 3m.

I've bought the DFS a few times in the past, along with Bandos. I concluded with both items that it isn't worth it. Defender + Barrows is cheap, economical, and the best anyone should need.

My main training atm is Slayer.

I use both my DFS and Rune Defender..

I only have Bunyip atm, once I get Unicorn I will most likely switch to full time Defender (unless required)

Using Duradel the monsters I fight can be high level .. for all non-prayer melee tasks I use it.

For all prayer tasks - defender.

I have extra cash so I use it, if I was scrounging for money I would most likely trade it in.

Again, I perfer a defence aspect rather then offense in the sense that I like the STR + DEF over attack + that defender offers.

Unless you have alot of money left over, enjoy spending 20m on a Shield thats dropping and enjoy defence THAT much, I sudgest sticking to a Dragon Sq Shield. for 300k they are well worth it.
