August 26, 200916 yr I've tried to judge every person I meet on the internet equally but there's one group of people that really get to me. They're the ones that feel the need to belittle everyone but their friend in order to be accepted. I'll give an example I've seen numerous times in the Rate This forum. Let's say one casual player gets 99 cooking. They're proud of it, they realize it isn't as difficult as most of the other skills, but they don't play much and they're at least happy they managed to get it. The flamer posts something like "Cooking is such an easy skill, try something that actually takes a bit of effort  " Then, one of the flamer's hardcore friends gets 99 cooking "for the lulz" and gets the level nonchalantly at an unfitting place. The flamer responds with something like "l0l y u so pr0 ilu 10/10 " Why do you guys feel the need to act like this? Why do you need to sarcastically congratulate a friend on an achievement while talking down to someone else doing the exact same thing? I'm just curious about all of this. I don't understand the allure about acting this way.
August 26, 200916 yr Because a very good portion, quite possibly a majority, of the Earth's population is ignorant, stupid, and bigoted. This problem increases exponentially when you add the internet, as then the stupid people can be more vocal. When you go feather dragon god, you never go back.
August 26, 200916 yr It's unconditional love. No matter how stupid your friends or family act, you're likely to stick to their side than a stranger's.
August 26, 200916 yr 99% of people feel good when they insult another person. I can't say I'm not in this group myself too...but at least I know when not to do so... And as Zierro said, you'd feel more comfortable and you're more likely to stick to your friends and family even though they might be ridiculously wrong. August 26, 200916 yr http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=787043&start=120 It annoys me when people put down another's achievement in the "Rate this" boards. But then giving out a higher rating and overuses a ton of " s" and "ilu's" for a friend's similar achievement. Not saying it happens all the time (or only at tipit), but.... whenever i see it, it just saddens me. Haha, I posted the exact same thing as you just a couple days ago! It really annoys me as well, I thought everyone was supposed to be friendly to everyone else, but.... guess not. Also, some of them actually are people who like to pick on others for their grammar, which also makes me think they are hypocrites.
August 26, 200916 yr The better question is, why does everyone who encounters someone who acts bad or talks bad have to make a separate thread for it when there is a player behavior sticky the mods were nice enough to give us?
August 27, 200916 yr Author This is thread is for me to find out why they act like this, not to vent my frustration.
August 27, 200916 yr Perhaps some people are just being honest. 99 cooking is achieved by a crapload of players. So, whenever someone posts it, it just ain't that excited anymore. Oh, and I'd rate friends the same. Heck, if one of them asks me to come to a 99 cooking party, I tell them to gtfo. Lucky for me, I don't have such friends. I then read your rant, and thought, "Because people are generally idiots." So there's your answer. People in general are my definition of an idiot - overly biased and "not *bleep*ing afraid" to rub it in your face every 3 seconds.

Because then the rest of the Rants forum would be deader than brains of the people in the RSOF. And, that sticky would be so full, there wouldn't be room nor time for a semi-coherent discussion on a specific rant.

People in general are my definition of an idiot - overly biased and "not *bleep*ing afraid" to rub it in your face every 3 seconds. But not all of these people are idiots. More than once I've had a perfectly intelligent conversation with them, only to have one of their friends walk up and start talking to each other in semi-readable barrages of meme's. I swear, all they do around each other is tell each other how pro they are, how much they fail, and trying to make each other lose the game. I guess it's just their way of hanging out, but it seems more obnoxious than friendly to me :wall:
