it is with great sadness that we have to announce that, as we slept in our hotel rooms last night, we were robbed blind.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

upon waking up this morning, we walked out into the hotel parking lot to find our van had been broken into and our trailer taken. the pieces of human [cabbage] behind this broke the lock off of the driver's side door, entered our tour van, and picked it clean of all of our possessions. they then managed to jimmy the vehicle into neutral, push it forward about twenty feet, break the lock off of our hitch and attach our trailer to their vehicle. then they drove away. all of this happened in the hotel parking lot, just yards away from where we slept.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

besides the priceless personal possessions we lost from the van, everything that enables us to be a band was contained in that trailer. all of our horns, guitars, drums, amps, microphones, rack gear, mic stands, every last bit of merchandise and cds, every sticker, patch , button with our logo on them, our banner, EVERYTHING. in all, we were robbed of approximately 80 thousand dollars worth of gear, merch and personal possessions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For those who don't know, Streetlight is a ska band from New Jersey. They are like most other ska bands in the sense that they have a big following from kids who listen to ska, but that's not much.

Basically, this is my second favorite band ever and they won't be performing for a long time or coming out with a new CD anytime soon. I'm really bummed out about it.

I think Facing New York had something simliar happen to them, but it wasn't nearly as costly. :shock:

U2 once had all their recording/lyrics/and work for their cd October stolen.....it was returned to them 20 years later :oops:

The merch and gear would be covered by insurance. Its a shame that insurance cant replace the priceless value on those personal items :(

Heh, Pink FLoyd has got this one or two times too, in America. One time it wasn't that much, other time it was over 100 thousand dollar, I believe. Insurance paid everything and they could still preform. Insurance will cover this too, I guess. Too bad for personal value items though.

That's assuming that they had insurance on the stuff. I hope for their sakes that they did. It'll still hold up whatever they were doing a lot even if they do have insurance because on a case that big there will have to be an investigation, and most insurance companies love to drag their feet as long as possible, like as if they're hoping you might forget they owe you money. My aunt's house burnt down and it took nearly a year to get her money from the insurance company. As far as the personal items, yeah, the insurance can't replace those, but you can set a reasonable monatary value on them, above what the actual item is worth. My aunt did that for the pictures they lost, some antique furniture, and an accordian that belonged to an long deceased relative of ours that came over with our family from europe. Also a friend of mine had their basement flood during a storm and all they lost basically was sentimental stuff. None of it had any monatary value. However the insurance paid them for their sentimental losses as well. Anyway, even if they get money from insurance, they gotta go buy back all their equipment, and get more cd's and other merchandise made which takes time. I don't know anything about this band but I sure feel for them. Being robbed blind must totally wreak.
