People should only be allowed to include ones they've actually played on (for longer then 1 hour) or owned. Its completely different playing a game on a emulator and playing a game on the original system. Everything from the controller to the way you insert the game.

2. PS2 - Let me play all my PS1 games, use my old controllers and had GTA VC and MGS as well as numerous other must have games. Not to mention most games being easier to buy when compared to the gamecube and xbox.

 

1. NES - I grew up playing Sonic and Mario games. It just my favorite console because of the controller, the games and importantly the place it holds in my heart. The games even my todays standards are bloody brilliant.

 

 

 

I never owned a SNES, Dreamcast or any pre-NES/Sega Master System II consoles nor have I properly played on them.

 

I've not included the current gen consoles as they are just getting into there stride so to speak.

Don't play it. I can't think of any valid reason why PC players would have any more skill than console players. There are good and bad players on both.

Trust me competitive PC gaming take a lot more skill then console gaming.

 

 

 

Give any average PC user and console gamer a copy of CS:S or any other online competitive game and they'll get destroyed. Not because the controls are different (hence me saying average PC user), but because the level of skill, concentration, reflexes and brains needed to succeed PC gaming is a lot higher.

 

 

 

Console games have auto aim built in to counter the lack of precision in controllers as well as bigger hit boxes. This leaves a console gamer in the believe that 1 there a good shot, 2 they have quick reflexes and 3 what they see happening is all them. All of which are faked to counter the controller no matter how good a console gamer the game is easier.

Because you have to handicap the PC gamer or increase the precision a console gamer can have. Both wouldn't be accepted by either set of gamers.

Everybody would have the same advantages/disadvantages as each other on consoles and PC respectively. I don't doubt that a console gamer would be trashed if suddenly they were dropped into a match of CS:S. If the situation was reversed, and a PC gamer dropped into a console shooter, then the result would be similar.

In the only differences for an average PC user and console gamer going from console to PC game would be the controls which they're already familiar with the location just not the use. For a PC gamer to console the controller is massively different to anything except a controller.

 

 

 

A competitive PC game has a much higher skill level then competitive console game. The sheer fact your using a controller is one of the biggest skill caps out there, then there's the tweaks added to try to counter this issue make the skill cap even lower.

 

 

 

Just face the skill levels for PC and console games are completely different. The max skill a PC gamer can get is far far greater then a console gamer. You can't deny that.

I appreciate what your saying but it seems to me that everyone would be in the same boat. If there is auto aim, then other players will have auto aim, therefore in my eyes cancelling any advantage out, the same for the advantages of a keyboard and mouse. Everyone can shoot more precisely.

 

 

 

I think its a hard issue to contest because its hard to define what constitutes skill in a game. For example, I know person Y is coming X way. If we confront each other head on, then theres likely to be an even chance in the outcome. If I go way Z, get behind him, and kill him easily then I have won through aproaching the situation a certain way which would not change whether you were playing a PC or console game.

OI! Placing the Xbox360 on there was nigh a good choice sir. PS2 is agreeable though. The Wii is not at all a good enough console to be in a top ten. The 360 though is a longshot. The 360 still fails to impress me, just like the PS3. The Wii hasn't impressed me since it started showing off all the crappy games being shoveled onto the thing.

But if you look at the live arcade you have an incredible collection of very solid indie titles, some which are some of the most brilliant games of this generation (Braid, anyone?). I think when you look at how well they have integrated Live into the console as well it really does deserve some kind of mention.
