Excessive lag when playing RS... halp plz?

With the new graphics update to RS, my computer can hardly play it. I'd really like to be able to have a few tabs open in addition to RS while playing but at the moment I can't. What are some ways I can make it run faster without downloading or un/installing anything? I'm running Firefox 3.5 on a Windows 2000. I had to disable the Tip.it Microhelper because the app wouldn't load at all.

The Microhelper doesn't work with the new updates at all, I believe.

Are you using high or low detail RS? If your using high, switching to low should help. If your using low, turn off the new graphics in the graphics window.

Turn off the new graphics? How do you do that? I have all the settings on low or off, and the window is non resizable.

I think your out of luck then. I meant switch to the fixed window since that turns off most of the new graphics.

Yes, the lowest quality of graphics have been raised considerably.

 

 

 

Just turn everything off. And keep to the barebones minimum. Shadows, flickering, rendering and effects all turned off or on the lowest setting.

 

 

 

You're already doing that so, I imagine the speed you currently have is your only choice.

You can't fix it any more than that. This new update lags me a ton too, and I played on bare minimum before it happened.

Guys, theres a new update on Java, i also had the lag, my friend told me to re-download Java, so I did, now the lag is gone. :)

Well, with such an old computer you can't expect it too keep playing the games, they always update RS, it's normal it takes more juice.

Might sound strange but try running it with everything maxed out. SD lags like a bag for me but HD runs flawlessly.
