Allotments question

Kimberly

Recommended Posts

I'm going to start farming herbs more (who isn't? haha) and I figured I'd use this time to try to get some farming levels, too. I plan on using super compost. I have several questions, however, and I'd appreciate any sort of nudge in the right direction in order to break even or profit by having the gardeners watch them.

I am open to gathering my own materials to pay off the farmers if it helps me break even.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advanced. :)

I'm no expert on this subject, but I know that providing a farming level would be nice. Thanks

Didn't think it was necessary considering you could click my RSN and it would take you straight to the high scores.

I can grow all the allotment plants, my farming is 73.

Since you have all the required levels, I would recommend that you complete the Falador diary (if you haven't already done so). Doing this will let you trade mole skins to Wyson the gardener and get white lily seeds. If you plant these in the flower patches, they will protect all allotments so you never have to worry about them dying.

Since you have all the required levels, I would recommend that you complete the Falador diary. Doing this will let you trade mole claws and skins to the gardener guy (I forget his name) to get white lily seeds. If you plant these in the flower patches, they will protect all allotments so you never have to worry about them dying.

So they'll grow even without being watered? I thought it only stopped disease and water was required to go to the next growing cycle.

First I'd like to direct you to this guide. It's taught me almost everything about farming runs as well as tips and tricks for fast and inexpensive experience. (It's a bit of a long read but trust me it's worth it)

I usually do the following patches:

Willow Trees

Pineapple Plants

Kwuarms

Marigolds

Poison Ivy

Calquat

Harvesting Cactus Spines (Just plant once and stop by during herb runs to pick them for an extra 9k gp)

As for allotments they really aren't god experience for at your level. It's much more efficient to just plant trees. ;)

Does that guide explain how to break even with trees?

They'll definitely grow without being watered. Idk whether it affects the yield, but watering is not required.

Well I'll have to do some experiments then. Thank you very much for this bit of information! I'm glad my Falador 3 Shield will see some use after so long!

Clipboard problems whoops :wall:

If you do 2 herb runs a day you should profit while planting trees I believe.

As a sidenote, if you wear your Falador shield while harvesting from the Fally/Port Sarim patches you'll get extra exp.

If you insist on using allotments I wouldn't bother with watermelons. Strawberries still lose money, but it's a lot less. The additional money you would spend on watermelons would be better spent using better trees.

"Breaking even" on trees depends on what herbs you are growing and how often you do herb runs. I'd recommend using the highest herb you can and marigolds, maple+ trees, pineapple+ fruit trees, and calquat trees. Also, you can do bush runs daily for xp and a little money, and be sure to pick cactus spines as has been mentioned.

With this set up, you may lose money, but you'll get xp far faster (if that's your intention), and you can make up the money elsewhere. If you just want herbs for herblore, grow snapdragons and sell them for the unfinished pots you want to train with.

Off-topic: I'm freakin' pissed at 2lum for manipulating coconuts up AGAIN. I have like 1k nightshade I've been picking to train herblore with and now I can't get the freakin' coconut milk.
