We can have the Dusty/Mather approach and create a game that they dominate because they have no intention of playing fairly, they are just doing whatever takes their fancy at the time.

Believe me, if I did what I fancied then you would notice... and pay dearly. What I have strived for in all games so far (except 2025 and the brawl games) is technological advancement in an attempt to give me the upperhand in case of an attack, though only about 10% of my technologies have been allowed/given any noticable effect and only about 20% were banned before the research was completed.

My thoughts exactly. If this game does spring up, I'll just ignore all the build points and tech research costs and resource numbers and do whatever I think is reasonable.

 

Oddly enough when I do that its called God Mode...When you do it its called being Reasonable...

A tremendously even handed approach to game play.

Because you do god mod? Not really my fault that I have the capacity to build 30,000 battleships a year, especially since I'm basing it off the production model that everyone agreed on.

I used the production system, I even made an excell sheet (no surprise there) where I set the ammount of points each ship cost, the amount of production satelites I had and when I started making them, then I timed/divided them with eachother times the start date/current date * 0.90.

Also, I'm not playing any game with any sort of tech tree. I think we should all start out with relatively high populations and control over two planets of our choice so that there isn't a boring start up period.

I am a bit flabbergasted that you spent so much time trying to convince Retech not to do it, when you were the moderator and your job was to say 'No, you can't do that because it would break the game'. Instead you let him (hell, you expanded it 1000x, just to be a [bleep]) and then said, "well, I tried to warn you guys derp de derp".

Everyone was using the system. You got mad because I had more production capacity then anyone else, because I had conquer/colonized more planets and had a larger population. Waaah.

 

Btw, just to remind everyone. This game fails hardcore when there's no player vs player conflict, as NPC 'enemies' are just brushed aside and then everyone goes back to creating their perfect little utopia and eventually gets bored and leaves.

Rocco, I think a slower start up period would be good, because then we can all get into our niches like, "Oh, Ross is the guy with the radioactive planet and crazy robot beings." so that we don't start going at each other's throats until there's a reason to do so.

 

The best conflicts are when the players create it themselves. Like the armageddon conflict of the last Hegemony would've been, if we didn't have super weapons.

You guys had a 10 page long discussion on it or something. I just went with whatever the majority was doing at the time, which was that production counter thingy.
