I look around with my thermal vision and summon a barrage of fire balls with my pendant to shoot at it before shooting a couple of mage-death arrows at it.

Jen continues forward slowly, checking for traps, until she sees something interesting or sees the water.

Ares-

"I want you to return to the lands you described earlier... You are the only person able to get there in less than a few weeks....I shall offer you three items of magic to aid you in your quest, but you must return them when you next come here....We must find out everything we can about this new threat, and potentially new allies in the people...what did you call them, the blue ones?"

I am atop a hill that over looks the forest, I try summon up as many shadow barbs and dark elementals as I can handle (tell me how many I summon)

Ares says that he will accept the task, and then tells the mage that the people's name was Nyseer.

Grim-

Your thermal sweep just shows red everywhere, the heat has jumped signifcantly.

 

Your fireballs seem to have had no effect at all and trying to hit this thing with a bow and arrow, at this range, seems impossible.

 

Fortunately it fails to attack you.

Jen spots a chest.

Umbra-

Some twenty barbs and three elementals.

(I hope this is a good chest)

 

Jen wonders if the sound of running water is inside the chest. She attempts to scan it, to see if it is extremely hot or extremely cold or pressurized. Then she stands back and attempts to open it using ice magic (popping the top off, then melting the ice).

Ares-(I wasn't sure I said =P)

 

"Then you may choose your items."

I teleport in close with my ring and slash at it with my silver sword before teleporting farther out and attempting to encase it's head in hot ice with aid from my battle staff.

Jen-

The chest seems to resist your magic in all shapes and forms...

I try summon a dark and shadow shield

 

I also try destroy the octopi with caladburn's range attack.

-Well, only one way to find out-

 

Jen attempts to open the chest by nudging it over with the tip of her polemace, keeping her shield upraised to protect her face.

Grim-

It is already next to you.

You connect your sword to it, but only do some light damage.

 

It moves too quickly for the hot ice to solidify around it...from here you can see that it is a Dog...or a Lion...its about that size

Ares thinks for a while, before asking for the following things:

The Octipi seem nowhere to be seen.

Jen-

You can't really get any purchase with the pole mace.

I attempt to encase it's legs in rock while teleporting backwards and jabbing it with my lance.

Ares-

"Hmmmm."

He shuffles off to the stair case

"Wait here"

(Grim, fire and geomancy. You seem to be the least suited person to go into hell/the underworld, where beings of fire and molten rock dwell.)

 

Archi -

Umbra sends in an elemental with 5 shadow barbs to attack the men and women below.

Grim-

The rocks seem to form to slowly again, and its firey legs seeming to pass around the rock regardless.

The Lance is entirely unwieldly in the tunnel.

 

It attacks again, but does low damage.

I shield bash it with my crystal embedded shield while slashing at it with my silver sword (Ross since when did I do the "logical" thing?)

(Ross I mean in 10 minutes)

 

Umbra-

The barbs decend, but once again you hear the strange sound of the Octapi and the barbs begin attacking each other. Worse than this thorns begin flying from somewhere behind you! You have been tricked!
