How exactly do they work?

Please Note: I am not asking which is better.

Alright so I've had curses since the day they were released and I got turmoil about two weeks ago and I have a question about leech and sap prayers. I've been hearing things on forums and from other people that I think they are saying the leech and sap prayers affect other monsters in the room. Do they effect more than one monster or just the one you're attacking? That might sound like a stupid question, I thought it was for awhile, but I really want to figure this out now.

That's what I was thinking thanks. I was asking because I keep seeing people saying things like "sap is better because it affects the other monsters too." it seemed silly to me so I decided to double check.

Also what the sap drains is random. You will get messages "Your curses has drained your targets magic" and ".... targets defense" so in my opinion the saps are not really effective if you are looking to specifically drain something.

They instantly drop the skill of the npc, by x amount. Then every time you see the animation it either reduces that skill or reduces one of the skills at random.

I think its either 3 or 5 % per animation depending on if your using leech or sap which according to runewikia and personal experience is about 2 minutes to fully kick in.

If you just want to drop a npc's defense use leech as the sap curses randomly reduce any of the related stats which means it takes longer to kick in.

So this means you can just quickly turn it on and off and the monster is cursed but you haven't ruined your prayer points :P?

You get a message saying the effects have gone a few seconds after you disable them <_<

In multicombat, they effect ALL monsters.

When you turn it on, it takwa about two combat rounds (depending on your weapon) for the base drain to go, so it isn't efficient to flash it because as soon as it is off, the effect stops.

The initial effect works on everything attacking you, but subsequent drains are random, that is when you get the message and it looks like you cast spell at the target. You can't choose the target. But anything that is attacking you is a potential target
