squidsquash
So I have been searching for some tough monsters I could kill for fun while making profit at the same time, and iron dragons caught my eye. But I am wondering if I would profit from them? My stats are in my sig, I was wondering which way would lose me less cash: Ranging w/ ranged potions or meleeing in prossy while praying melee. Or would 80 ranged be a necessity to profit from ranging iron dragons? I assume magic is out of the question anyways :P All help appreciated :)
Loffelicious
Magic will not profit. Range at that level might break even, but it is going to be slow... Melee will be slow too, and I'm not sure about loss/gains there as I've never done it.. dragon246665
At worst I would say that ranging breaks even, at best you can get some dragon drops, or even a visage. But I would never reccomend visage hunting, I just hope for one every time I get a metal dragon task.

Its not so much visage hunting as it is me being bored and looking for something to do so I can feel tough  Another question: Maybe black drags would be better? I could use taverly dungeon and bring a BoB for bones/hides?

To gain access to the Evil Chickens' Lair you must have at least started the Amik Varze portion of the Recipe for Disaster quest. Looks like it's taverly for me :( But I'm wondering how black dragons can be so much better for my stats even though they are a higher level than iron dragons? Robert_R
Oh sorry I thought you only needed to finish lost city quest. Black dragons are mainly better because you can safe spot with no use of supplies besides bolts, and bones are easier to bank. Although without access to the evil chicken lair I'm not sure if that's true.
Loffelicious
Well.. If you want tough, tough is what you get. But you'd earn a lot more money killing other types of easier dragons. Iron dragons are very easy to kill, but they do have high defence, and at lower levels they will not bring much income and will be very slow to kill.. That said, I also ranged them when I was around your range level. You'll go mad if you don't have a forum thread to read or something while doing it:p Skeletal wyvern guide: 100-150 crimsons per hour and PROFIT

I also thought of a good way to bank: Put my home in Brimhaven to get to the dungeon quickly, and use a ammy of glory to get to edgy, rinse & repeat :) For inventory, what would be a good amount of potions to bring? Antifire and ranged that is
KISS
Through out my time DV Hunting I've only ever gotten one. This is my story I Started of with around 65 Range, yes 65 at black dragons in Tarvely, meaning going through the cave every single 12 kills. I killed over 1k of them and made a good 8m~ or so profit If I remember correctly. Ever since then I believe receiving a DV from black dragons were impossible. After finally getting 81 Range from aviansies (Good money I must say), I moved back to dragons but this time the KBD. I would KBD in groups of 2 to 3 and sometimes on the rare occasion just solo. Most of the times we were in lootshare worlds with coinshare on, but on this specific day we couldn't find a world and decided to Free for All and then after two kills in the DV was dropped. So after about 250 Kills at the KBD in total I finally received a DV, it took over 2 weeks and I do regret doing it although its been my goal ever since I was a member. The thing is I wouldn't do it, its just toooooooooooooooooooooo rare. Defining Rune Pure
Merre
Tbh at your level I wouldn't go for iron dragons yet.I have 88 ranged and they're very slow for me. I also make my own anti fire pots, I see u got L30 herblore so that's a nope either.I suggest ranging blue drags although with L45 agility it will be a long run. :sIf I were you I'd level my skills a bit before thinking about making money with cb.Just my thought 2016 goals: all skills +30mil xp - Completed this goal 11th December 2016 2017 goals: get at least 3 more master capes (start xp: invention done@21st Jan, mining done@2nd April & ranged 76/104mil done@June 20th) & all skills +40mil xp (done 24th August)
Cantristenon
Do it sometimes for a random chance and fun but don't purposely start hunting visage since it's wasting both time and supplies. It's just my word of advice :P 0 visage for me, 12 KBD heads and over 2k mithril dragon kills. And some iron and steel dragons for slayer. If you are after visage I suggest you stick with dragon tasks you get when doing slayer.
squidsquash
I'm not really viasage hunting, I'm looking for a fun boss-like monster that will net me a profit. Iron dragons drop things like Dragon legs, skirts, med helms etc. These are pretty much my target drops, the visage is just a bonus :P Do you think I could kill the KBD in a group of 2 or 3? Ive got some friends who would probably go with me with VERY high stats...
Cantristenon
You could easily duo KBD but problem would be finding free lootshare world. KBD is always incredibly crowded :P I wouldn't really say that metal dragons (except maybe mithril dragons) were boss type monster.
