Returning after long break; a few questions

Hey there, I'm Kazel. I stopped playing RuneScape back in September, but I've recently returned and I had a few questions...

 

1. Why is the price of whips so high?

 

2. What is a mint? I see a lot of people "selling whips for mint + cash" and I have no idea what that means.

 

3. Are there new Champion's Challenges?

 

4. I totally forgot what I used to own. Currently I have a few teleport runes, some terrorbirds + scrolls, a Slayer helm, full ranged Void, a rune defender, my old quest cape (still need to finish the most recent quests to wear it), fighter torso, Verac's skirt, barrows gloves and rune boots. I'm working on buying a whip and dragon scimitar. Are there any other essential items I need?

 

Any other tips would be appreciated, and thanks in advance to anybody who answers.

2) Maybe mint cake which restored 100% of player's run energy? Not sure, thats the only "mint" I've heard of ingame...

4) good choice for armor, just make sure to get that whip :P

1. Why is the price of whips so high? Everything rose due to the massive inflation in-game. I haven't checked it, but it might be rising again due to the recent Barbarian Assault reward to paint your whip.

 

2. What is a mint? I see a lot of people "selling whips for mint + cash" and I have no idea what that means. A mint is a Mint Cake. I believe it's from the Gnome Cuisine mini-game...something along the lines of Gnome and Food...but it's basically a merching item. Has no real use.

 

3. Are there new Champion's Challenges? Not that I can recall.

Depends on what you want to do, I'd get a barrows chest, but that's just because I prefer the defense over the strength bonus of the torso, it's up to you. You can also try getting some Dragon Boots, not essential, but it's nice. Glory's are pretty nice too, and a Fury if you have the spare cash.

 

Any other tips would be appreciated, and thanks in advance to anybody who answers. Skim the recent news archives on the runescape webpage to make sure you know all of the updates since you're break.

To answer question 3: there are new champion challenges, aberrant spectres amongst them, I can not remember the rest, but I am sure there is some guide somewhere here on tip.it that will fill inn my blanks :)

The equipment you have is good enough to make a bit of money with slayer. There aren't any news items as essential as a whip. Upgrading to dragon boots is a thought, though.

 

Mint cakes are essentially the opposite of junk.

 

Junk items are items which are worth more on the GE then players are willing to pay for them. It is used to get around the current trade restrictions in the game. Since the junk isn't worth anything but is "worth" money on the GE, players sell junk along with another item that is worth more than it is "worth" on the GE to be able to sell the underpriced item for more than it is "worth".

 

Mint cakes are used also to be able to make an unbalanced trade, but are added to the opposite side. They are worth 5-10 mil, but only "worth" about 30k. If a player wants to buy an item worth more than it is "worth", the player has to trade a mint cake as well.

 

It is all based on the formula

 

Coins = item that is underpriced on the GE + junk

 

or

 

Coins + mint cake = item that is underpriced on the GE
