Can you translate that into a currency?

Archi, it's not like every time someone sells something they trade in gold. While that is the base value of a country's money, it is not the only measure.

 

For example, if I were to take a million Brazilian Reals, and exchange them at banks in the US, I would have a millionish USD. No gold involved. And 150 million dollars is still essentially nothing, so it's irrelevant.

 

Overall: my point is that gold is a base, but not the only measure.
