Annexing in general is a stupid system to use in this game. It eliminates the need for combat until all the countries have been annexed. By which point there are 2-3 people with supercountries because they annexed goddamned everything.

It would never be able to repay it...You have a debt 70 times larger than your ability to repay, and all the time it is getting larger and larger. The only way to stop it is to go back to the Gold standard and lose 69/70ths of your money....Which would destroy the US Dollar, and bring your country tumbling down....Leave it and it will just get worse.

Ross, Indonesia is defending itself. I took Indonesia over peacefully. You're sending an armada. I never even had troops in Indonesia until recently (when I set up a naval perimeter)

Explain to me why Indonesia is not defending itself against you. I'm sending unarmed transports with troops for peaceful occupation, which is exactly the same as what you are doing.

 

You never took Indonesia. You couldn't have at this point due to the thread only being 4 days old, where 5 years are required for annexation. Which is 10 days, for the record.

Someone invents money and says 'Hey listen, I will give everyone 100 coins, and at the end of the year you pay me back, plus 5% because obviously I want to make money out of it.'

People go yeah, and some people make some money and some people lose some money, and so at the end of the year some people are in debt and some people have made a profit....The people who are in debt need to borrow more money and the people who made a profit have a harder market because everyone who lost money is less willing to buy....So eventually everyone works at a loss.

Now that is not conducive to capitalism...It doesn't work if everyone makes a loss, so credit comes along and so people can buy stuff on credit, so people start making a profit again....But.

 

Year 1 - 50,000 Gold, 50,000 Debt.

Year 2 - 50,000 Gold, 52,500 Debt

Year 3 - 50,000 Gold, 55,125 Debt

 

And so on and so forth.

 

Thus the Gold Standard fails and we move to an even bigger form of deficit financing known as Speculative Financing...Where people spend money they don't have on the promise of making a profit...

 

The system just spirals. You can't get out of it unless you default on the debt, which would destroy the Dollar.

Important to note: I'm not annexing Ukraine. Neither is Ukraine losing its independence. Ukraine and Romania are forming the South Slavic Republic, so essentially, Romania is losing its independence.

 

Futhermore, I have no bloody army so I'm not exactly going to be going on an annex-fest and go create a super-power. But you're daft if you think I'm going to sit around with my piddly little Eastern European country and wait to get invaded.
