In other news bio-domes are being erected on Greenland, their goal; to grow tropic/near-extinct fruits and plants for food, trade and research.

Not really. Once the Rhine Hyrdological Power Station is completed I will have 175 times more electricity than Switzerland currently consumes...Now 100 times of that(6 Trillion Kilowatt hours) is earmarked for foreign consumption, but the other 75 times can be used internally(And I will guess there will be some inefficency in the system anyway, so guessing its only 150 in total...Even so...)

 

In other news: Geoffrey Coates, from Cornell University, as well as his research group, has been offfered a seat in Switzerland's Top University, as well as a 50 million dollar research budget for his work into oil-free plastics. It is estimated that 3 tonnes of Gold were sold to secure his, and his teams, positions here. Experimentation has largely been completed, now it is a matter of making it cheaper, completion is expected in 2015.

In the meanwhile the new plastic has been named PolyCoatesazine, after its creator, and the Swiss government is beginning a 10 year plan to phase out oil-based plastics in favour of this new form of plastic...However some oil based plastics may still be with us, due to adverse effects on male mice, due to a random hormonal issue....There is no risk to humans or female mice though. The situation is being throughly tested though, just in case.

 

Switzerland now has Geoffrey Coates and 837 tonnes of Gold.

Research into oil-free plastic will be completed in 5 days. This technology will be sold for 30 Tonnes of Gold.

OIL is still the most important resource, its need for a lot, not only fuel but aircrafts and such.

Novomer, a company he cofounded in 2004, will see its green plastics used in high-end electronics in the next couple of years. Once production is scaled up, less-expensive mainstream consumer products such as food containers will follow soon after.

Archi, oil products aren't named after their inventors, but their chemical structure.

The Brazilian line of fuel cell cars is complete, and are fairly affordable. A program similar to the real world US's program "Cash for Clunkers" has started, and the older cars we get will be recycled into either new H-Cars, or into metal for construction.

Draining of Favelas has had some success, and smaller rural towns are becoming more populated and successful. Tourism is also booming, since crime in major cities has gone down dramatically. Rio is being prepared for the 2016 Olympics, expected to bring a huge amount of money into the country, and show our worth as a prospective first world nation. GDP/Capita has gone up over 20% in the past four (I think) years.

The new Brazilian car company "Hydraus" is opening dealerships across the Americas, and the small amount we tax that company is going into construction of better housing.

Also, we are working on designing a new line of guns, and tanks/small armored vehicles.

Mather, the Japanese government will purchase in bulk if you reduce the price to $40 a barrel. Also Doom, doesn't GDP per capita rise much slower than GDP? It would seem it would only go up a teensie bit each year.

Retech, I think it's essentially the same. Since if 10 people are getting a total of 100 dollars, and that increases 20%, to 120, then logically the average amount of money goes up to 12 per person. I could be wrong though.

Well your population would also increase. So it would be sharing 120 with 12 people, or maybe less if your growth rate is low, but I'm pretty sure Brazil has a high birth rate. So you would have to maintain economic growth to keep pace with your population.

Doom how do you feel about joining the Terran Free Trade Association?

On an unrelated topic, I will by 50% of your citrus fruits per year...so your balance of trade should increase dramatically.

I'm changing that number to 30%, since I looked and at the current economic growth rate it would have been higher than 20% anyways. And our population growth rate is only like 1%, so it cancels out.

And what's the free trade association?

In other news, Japan is preparing to land troops in Somalia to defeat the pirates and rebels. After forming a decent government, the territory will be turned over to the UN for administration. The military will be disbanded (Somalian) and UN forces will keep the peace. Anyone want to help?

 

Japan begins the construction of short ranged interceptor fighters. These fighters have no bomb dropping capacities, but they are generally cheaper than longer ranged fighters and are more heavily armed for the role.

Switzerland protests that Somalia should have its sovereign rights protected and threatens to send troops to protect its rights if so required.

That's a rally low price, but ok.

Somalia does have sovereign rights, but most of the country isn't even controlled by the government. So my troops (and any others if they want to help) will just blow up all the rebels and return the country to government control.
