A tonne of Gold is worth 32.15 Million Dollars...currently.

I tax a few companies with multi billion dollar revenues from this area, over several years, and get a few hundred million dollars. Little different than that.

And after 10 days I am a multi-trilionaire...after 20 days I am making up new numbers to explain how rich I am.... Doom, its not that big a deal to use Gold reserves...you can still use dollars inside your own country, but when trading you are trading Gold(Which is essentially true in the real world as well)

Archi, all that does is it makes it so that the countries that start with large amounts of gold can trade, and no one else can, and is essentially living in a bubble. In gold reserves Brazil is worth like what, 900 million dollars? In GDP we're a trillion and something a year. The way we had it last game was better, only it should be even more strict. Let's say you tax about 20% on average, you take 5% of that and that's your budget. So, 1% a year.

Money worked fine until we got to a scale where using it was impracticable.

Doom, small countries just have to be a bit clever. The USA currently holds 8000 Tonnes of Gold, you could conduct research, buy Gold with the research and thus have gold....It doesn't stop you from becoming powerful, it just stops people from having 900 trillion dollars, while keeping the economy at its current rate....IE that bread costs 1 pound.

It's not about smaller countries, it's about gold. Brazil is the fifth largest country population wise, and I think the fifth biggest size wise, and then I can't remember which GDP wise, but it's in the top 10. So I'm not a small country, but not everything should be based on gold.

I think the amount of gold should simply be to stabilize your currency, but it doesn't really make a big deal. We should just go with 1% of GDP as a standard, and you can raise or cut that for bad and positive effects. So you can still affect tax policy, but 1% would be like no harm but no help.

Archi, a lot is based on gold, but it's also a system of debt, and trade in things other than gold.

Switzerland's not on the chart because it's not a major economic country, in scale.

Isn't international trading based on investors? Most nations have taken their currencies off gold. Those US dollar bills don't move much, even when they're not pegged to anything.

 

Japan replaces all their republic friends' money with Yen. The value is exactly the same as before, but basically they're now in Yen. It is expected to increase inflation slightly, which is very good (Japan was experiencing deflation)

Debt exists...and if you want to carry on that system then I will be happy to point out when the world has collapsed on itself...because currently we are 70 Trillion dollars in debt...The World is....There are 70 Trillions dollars out there which don't actually exist, and if more than 11 Trillion were ever claimed the world would collapse.

But in terms of actual economic power, Switzerland isn't that high. I said in terms of scale. And ok, then why isn't their chaos everywhere in real life? Because that's how the world works. Let's stick to 1% of gdp.
