Nintendo DS goes Online

Finally DS owners can play games together thru Wi-Fi. Well not the public yet, but the website's up and everything, and you can see that a select few people are already playing.

The site is: http://www.nintendowifi.com/

It has a lot of cool features. Maps (which aren't working now :s) of wi-fi spots, stats of players, etc.

To get online once Mario Kart comes out on November 14th, you can either use your DS with an online router, the USB connection directly into your PC which allows non-wireless connections ( http://planetgamecube.com/hardware.cfm? ... ile&id=244 ), or at Wi-fi spots.

So I guess this can be 'that thread' where DS owners can all post our names, and once Mario Kart comes out, the people who bought it can play together. :)

I'd like to play SSBM online. :D

Yeah, that would be so awesome *drools* :P

I think ill buy Mario Kart, but I generally like to wait until I can buy games used from GameStop... Maybe I'll make an exception this time. 8)

Wah, doesn't come out over here until the 25th. Even so, Mario Kart online is a prospect so good it hurts. Apparently if you unlock various things, or beat time trials, you get stars that appear next to your name online so you can show people how good you are...

I finally got it. Well I shipped for the usb part for the computer a few days ago which'll come soon, but just tonight I found out my neighbor's wireless internet goes in range with my house, so I've been playing some MK. :)

I hope you're prepared to buy another one in a years time when that falls apart. One of the most shoddily design and built pieces of equipment I've seen in years.

The UK website isn't up yet. Does that mean that the WiFi network isn't either? I don't have access to my DS right now, so I can't tell (my DS is at home in England, I'm stuck in Belfast).

Goals to get my skills back up to a barely respectable level on the high scores:

Currently going for Bone to Peaches spell. It's amazing how boring doing the same repetitive task is! Stupid MTA

Wi-Fi is up in the UK, but I can't find the stupid usb connector dongle in any game retail shops, so I haven't played online yet, but I know it'll be ace. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone in the UK had manged to get their hands on the dongle?

I'm no help with the dongle side of things. I have a wireless LAN at both home and uni, so when I get my hands on my DS, I won't be needing one.

Surely you can buy one online?

For the usb connector, it's only sold online. Pretty bad decision of Nintendo IMO. They should have made some type of Mario Kart bundle including that.

Only sold online? Thats insane, they've been hyping up the DS' online mode for ages. Looks like i'm just going to have to get a normal router....
