mlskid
I read over the guide and didn't see any place in the guide that i would have to use a lvl 75 mage spell, so i was wondering, can't i just pot that and the herblore and farming requirements up to those levels? Then secondly, if I DID get lucky enough with stews and such to be able to start the quest, could i complete it fairly easily with my stats or would it be tough? Thanks for all help The only requirements I need to get for the quest now are, 75 magic, 65 herblore, and 65 farming. Ayisha
You need to use the NPC Contact spell on the Lunar Book, I'm too lazy to look it up, but that's probably where the 75 mage comes in. As for the farming and herblore, those can be potted to start and complete. Did you enjoy Dream Mentor with your stats? If you're good at combat, I don't see why you couldn't.... I'm not good at combat so am rather dreading it even at my levels - that is, if I could only get through Summer's End!
Aiel
the combat portion was relativity easy, I never even ate. And yes its for the NPC contact spell so you could pot it too. I would not recommend stewing the farming as you'd spend more time getting spices then it would take to get the farming. Id also just get the last herblore level you need and then greenmans ale it, its not THAT expensive. DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers ringsQBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow partsCR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size....It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty). You'll only need to pot to start the quest and then you won't need the levels at all after that. I did this quest at 97 combat with welfare gear, so you'll do fine as long as you're prepared. I completed it with lower stats than that, so you should have no problem. I KNOW you can pot up herb and farming (that's what I did), so I'd assume you could for Mage, but you never have to pot through the quest, just to start it. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~

I loved that quest! Favorite quest so far. What room are you stuck on? I liked the challenge and don't really see why so many people struggle with it. Tbh, I have only tried it twice as there was other stuff stressing me out at the time. I'm still at the first room with no fires lit. My games necklace, ring of duelling and hatchet (probably should invest in a dragon one although personally I don't see the millions of value in them :S) protect on death so getting back to my grave isn't a problem even though I typically avoid death in runescape like the plague. I took tuna potatoes and shark for food and was using the baths at Oo'glog. My problem is that I've never played any fast reaction video games. (I'm an adult player and totally missed the genre.) I get into the situation and panic and end up running into the attacks rather than away. As a friend of mine says: "1 rule: you panic, you die! lol". I know a few things, other than practice and patience that will help. I typically don't play on full-screen so need to get familiar with the controls and give myself more view of the area. I also didn't have sound at the time. I've read the differing opinions on whether it's best to collect all the kindling first and then light the fires, or whether you should just do one fire at a time.... idk which is going to work better for me, probably the former. I got a gorak task for slayer, and so i just kept the gorak claws i got and made them for my herblore level. Then tried using them on a barrows run and noticed that i got to the 75 mage level and the light just clicked. Now I have the levels and am just about ready to try and go get the quest  Summoning help:[hide=Wio, lol][/hide]
mlskid
Yay! I officially start the quest. Thanks all for your help. Now it's on to actually getting the quest done. hehe. What should I spend my xp on? I was thinking a combination of prayer and summoning (just to get 70 summ for my saradomin bird.) What do you guys think? Ayisha
Nice! :D Good luck out there. :) Your reward-spending sounds good. My personal plan though, was to spend it all on prayer towards getting 75 to be able to spend that other quest reward (Blood Runs Deep?) on prayer as well. I've read the differing opinions on whether it's best to collect all the kindling first and then light the fires, or whether you should just do one fire at a time.... idk which is going to work better for me, probably the former. It's waaaayyyy better to collect the kindling first and then set all the fires at once. I used a rune hatchet, sharks and super energy restores (hadn't done 'As a First Resort' yet, way harder w/potions). Keep the volume up and run the instant you hear the noise. I made the HUGE mistake of lighting the first fire before I could lit them all. Every time you light a fire his attacks get much more powerful and way faster (2x). I got into a nice cycle of just running around the edges of the room, not trying to get logs. Once I was OK with that I would start hitting a branch once, run. Hit a branch once, then run. You could attempt tanking the hits with saradomin brews but I don't suggest it. Once you have enough logs to light them all at once, either teleport out for more food, or if you have enough, begin laying them in the little fire pits (you cannot bank them). Run around the room, lay a log, repeat, repeat. If you die you will lose all your laid logs. Once all the pits are filled light them. Light one and run around the edges of the room once, lit another, run, light the last. GOOD LUCK! I died several times before I perfected my plan. The 2nd and 3rd rooms are easier imo. I didn't die on either.
sohkmj1
I believe the 75 magic requirement is for a Fire Wave to heat the key? Not sure about that.

Isn't that only if you want to get into the mithril door? I just want the experience at the end, I definitely can't do any of the extra stuff. Summoning help:[hide=Wio, lol][/hide]
Kidd_Varrow
I believe the 75 magic requirement is for a Fire Wave to heat the key? Not sure about that. That's if you get all three dragon armor pieces and want to make a dragon platebody, which you can only do after you've completed the quest. And you cast fire wave on the heads in the dragon furnace, not on the key.
