Sportz
So I have about 30m in my bank, and working on more from Fishing. I should have 50m+ when I'm done, and not sure what I should spend it all on. I'll be spending some on skills, but also thinking of buying a DFS. I've had people tell me it's worth it and people tell me it's not, but I'm not sure. So is DFS worth the 35m it is to buy it? warrior5024
I sold my DFS when they were 16m, and I don't really regret it. It is rather unnecessary since the defender offers such a great accuracy bonus, and you don't need all of that defence all the time. So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb.
aspeeder
The Blessed Spirit Shield is a pretty good replacement for most places where you'd need the defense, like GWD bosses; so unless having the best gear possible for dragon hunting is worth 35mil for you then don't get it. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22 99 Necromancy since 11/22/25 Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 33 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 10 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots

stonewall337
Defender almost always wins for speed. BSS isn't as good for places where you take range damage, such as DKS, but it is good for other bosses. Don't use a DFS ranging/maging dragons; the Antidragon fire shield is better. DFS has negative range/mage bonus. [hide=Drops]Araxxor Eye x1 Leg pieces x2GWD: 5000 Addy bar Steam B Staff x3 Z Spear x6 Sara. Used a DFS and it worked great, but i didn't notice much difference between it and the BSS. Don't own a Crystal Shield so i can't really compare it. Like most people have been saying, DFS isn't worth it on most things. Lately i have been used a BSS on my slayer tasks, and it seems to do better. It has a higher crush def then the DFS, and most monsters do use crush. Ezkaton
Ah a case of ye olde DFS vs Defender/other shields....... First off a DFS is alot like a SGS in the sense that once you buy one and you use it you never want to let it go out of your possession again and when you do sell it you buy it back as soon as you can...... I know that is certainly the case with me and some other people I know who have them. They are amazing defensive shields. It also depends what you want your setups to do. I, for one, wanted extremely high defence bonuses (don't ask why, I have no idea, I just felt compelled), so the DFS slotted in extremely nicely with Torags etc. Others want it for a max str setup if they have Bandos. With my recent vissy drop I considered Bandos, but at the end of the day I'm paying 20m+ more for worse defensive stats that I can get on Torags, and only a little increase in str bonus that is neglegable. However, I've recently come back with slayer even with my lappys extreme lag speed (for some reason), and have found that the defender pretty much is as awesome as people say. It has amazing bonuses etc and when I go back to DFS for dragon tasks/tasks I want extra defence on then yes I can certainly tell a difference. BSS; now this shield is a mystery to me, I've had one before when they were 2m and found it pretty awesome for ranging, but I soon got bored of it. That's all I'd say it's good for. Range. It takes away no bonuses making it a useful shield for that. But I hardly see any uses other than being a ranging shield. If I were you, I'd use the defender and spend the money on herb or prayer. Don't fall into the trap of buying a DFS and falling in love with it unless you really want the shield. I adore the shield and it'll probably be the day I either quit or get 99 smithing that I sell that shield. Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.2672nd person to reach 2496 total. Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D
