  1. 1. Who's game would you prefer to play with?

Recommended Posts

Terragen:

Ok. As explained before this game will be a merger between Hegemony, Dungeoneering, Colonization and Civialization.

You start off as a band of 1 unit of Nomads, and you can choose where you want to found your city on the Island map.

The files should work, if not I can fix them

[hide]terragen1.png[/hide]

You should be aware that this will probably be the most important decision you make, because chosing a bad starting location will hold you back tremendously.

So how do you chose a good location?

Well tiles have general values...

Grass tiles

grass.png

These are good for growing most crops...but don't produce much in the way or resources.

Hills

hill.png

These are good at producing mineral resources, and for raising some animals, but poor for growing food...

Mountains

mount.png

These are really good at producing minerals, but are terrible for food or animals.

Marshes

marsh.png

They produce a bit of food, but are mainly useful for salt, and organic minerals.

Trees

trees.png

These are good for getting wood, as well as hunting animals, but are poor for growing crops

Shallow Waters

shallow.png

These are good for fish, as well as hygiene.

Deep Waters

deep.png

Unlikely to fall within the range of your settlements, the deep sea is more likely to be used for fishing expeditions

Cities, or Settlements are set up on one tile, but can deploy their unit of population in one of the six surround tiles. For example:

A city would be set up like this:

1.png

With 3 Units Rice and 2 Bundles of Wool being collected per turn on the red tile, and 4 Units of Rice being collected per turn on one of the surrounding blue tiles.

Each Civilian consumes 2 Units of food(of whatever type) per year.

Since there is a surplus of food now this will build up over turns to 100 units eventually, at which point a new Civilian will be formed.

Now Civilians don't have to work in the fields, they can, instead, work in the city. For example the new Civilian might start making Woolen Clothes out of the Wool that is being harvested. Producing 3 Units a year, until the wool surplus runs out and it is reduced to two units a year.

Now the Woolen Clothes can be consumed by your civilians, making them happier(1 Unit of Goods per 2 Units of Population), or they can be traded.

So some years have gone past and your civilians working on the Woolen Clothes have got quite good at Weaving, and become Master Weavers! Thus instead of being able to turn 3 units of Wool into 3 Units of Clothes, they now turn 6 Units of Wool into 6 Units of Clothes!

However you still don't have enough Wool to let them work at capacity...so what are you to do?

Well, when your next new Civilian comes out you can assign them to husband some sheep in another field:

2.png

Thus now you are producing 5 units of Wool per turn, creating 5 units of Clothes.

But by now you have 2 Civilian Units and 1 Master Weaver Unit...so you are consumming 6 units of Rice each year, thus you only have 1 unit spare.

From here you begin researching Irrigation.

To do this you start collecting taxes...now Taxes make people unhappy, but fortunately we already have the Woolen Clothes to cancel out the taxation. (Taxation only has 2 settings, on and off.) Each Civilian produces a base tax of 1 Coin per year, with extra taxation coming from buildings, bussinesses and what not which can be explained later.

Now, there are 3 Civilians, so 3 coins per year.

There are 3 ways to spend money...Culturally, which helps keep people happy, as well as influences how far you can project your culture....Research, which progresses your society...and Economic, which means that those coins go into your treasury.

The treasury can spend money to finish building works, or to trade, but it cannot expand your culture or conduct research.

Anyway, you spend the coins entirely on research, and are helpfully informed that in 5 turns you will have discovered Irrigation, and that people in your town have built an Elder's Hut, where the intellectuals 'hang out'

In the meanwhile you decide that you have enough Woolen Clothes for the timebeing, and instead of producing them forever, you are going to outfit the Weavers with some basic tools so that when your researching has finished you can send them to irrigate the farm land, without disturbing the Civilians working there(Which might cause a food shortage!)

So your researching finishes and you begin irrigating the land, helpfully informed that it will take 3 turns to complete.

Meanwhile though your Elders think that this researching thing is pretty good, and wonder if you have anything else to research...

But you decide that its time for some culture, and instead instruct them to start making up an epic story about the great irrigators. Thus your money is spent on Culture, rather than Research. They tell you that they will spread the tale far and wide(and the coins are transfered into cultural points which the city has)

So you merrily carry on, when suddenly, Disaster! Rats have got into the Rice stores! Fortunately your Civilians have managed to chase them out, but your whole surplus is gone. Fortunately some bright spark says 'Why don't we build a stronger store?' but you don't have the money(15 coins)... So have to say that you can't, instead you decide that you have spread enough culture and done enough research, and instead its time to fill your treasury.

A few years later and you have your 15 coins, but people have forgotten(silly people) about the stronger store, and don't feel inclined to build it...so you decide that you are just going to split the money equally between the different groups.

In the meantime your Weavers have Irrigated the Rice Field, and the Field to the South, and now the field in the north is producing 10 units of rice per year.

3.png

So you send your weavers back to weave again, and wait a little while.

Your new Civilian comes out, but this time you decide that it would be better if you sent them out to the wider world...So you pack them off with food(Which costs exactly as much as taxation so they cancel each other out) and send them to explore the marsh to the East. So they begin their trek, taking two years to get to the marsh, and when they get there they discover... who knows! It could be a village which is on the edge of starvation, which asks for food to survive, or it could be nothing...then again it could be a beast, who's territory you have trespassed on...or maybe you will meet a band of roving bandits, who rob and capture your explorers!

Like I said before the game will probably go at 10 turns per day to begin with, but will probably slow down to 1 turn per day as people find their feet and begin to explore, expand, exploit and exterminate their way to greatness!(I also have to go to lecutres so explains why I am stopping here)

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

We can't play all three? :D

This one looks fantastic, but that's only one out of three that I've seen.

Master of your domain? I am Lord of the manor, Queen of the castle, King of the county!

Former moderator of the original Dungeoneering

Former moderator of Ye Olde Hegemony

Moderator of the remake of Dungeoneering

Former Empress of the Lichten Empire (Hegemony)

Former President of the United States (Hegemony)

Former Emporer of Imperial Japan (Hegemony)

Czarina Catherine of Imperial Russia (Hegemony

The only difference between a disagreement between friends, an argument between strangers, and a feud between enemies is the ability to reconcile.

Playing all three will probably cause problems. Though potentially you could play all three...My game looks set to be fairly relaxed, since everything takes time.

Anyway I have finally got my file store working, so I should be able to post stuff directly, and update it really easily(Essentially I just have to save the file to my file store, rather than upload it. )

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

My link

okay, look for other games with that basic title in order to figure out what im talking about if you still dun get it:

game name: overlording, hegenomy style (name can be changed!)

my idea: this is a sorta continuation of the game after retech anthraxed everything. basically, the sproes mutated everything, but killed off the human population, execpt for some dormant people who had no memories. these mutations gave the animals strange powers, some truning vaugley human like. some turned into the mythacal elves, who urned to the remaining forests and learned more about their powers there...

halflings came about, their only powers to dig and cook, with greedy apetites....

the dwarves came to being as well, and took the the newley formed mountains caused by upheaval in the land...

then the dormant humans, asleep for ages cam back, but their last technology malfuntioned, leaving them with only practical knowledge enough to start towns and farms. these led to dangerous times, as the other races found these revived ones and took a disliking to them, but the humans retained a fierce will to survive after their near ahnialation. thus a peace was called, and the races have lived in an uneasy truce ever scince. but then, a dark hearted adventurer came to being, in the form of an lf or human, no one knew. all that was know was he found a door, inexplicably carved by unknown hands. he read an inscription upon the door stating that many dangeers will come about if this door is opened. but the fiend opened the door, for he delighted in wickedness... hang on, ill brb wiuth the rest.

What about a hegemony-ish game based on these books:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Song_of_ice_and_fire

They're pretty detailed if anyone here has read them, they come with a map, like most fantasy books and nothing is kept hidden from the reader.

back,

Continued: so the door was opened, by the black hearted one, and out came an army of creatures, trolls slugs, beetles, and other such things. each had properties imbued by the long gone sickness, and use these abilities well. but the evil one was angered, as they did not attack as he had meant, no they seemed to just want to be free and peacefull.. but then, the minion came. these creatures were what was truely meant to be sealed behind that door... creatures of savage cruelty, of murderous power. sadly, there was only one minion was left alive, as the others had no leader and panicked after they were sut in. this minon, however was smarter he hid himself, taking a small piece of the things that created these small demons, the hives. the other creatures within the door were fearfull of these imbued creatures, and killed all but one, and destroyed the hives. but the survivor, upon meeting the evil one, called him his master, and bowed to him. with the pieces of the hives, the new Overlord as he became know, revitalized the minions, crafted objects of immense strength, and subjugated the other races beneath booted heel. unfortunatley, the other races banded together and rose up, killing the overlord, for he had forgotten, drunk on pwer, to create any weapons or armor other than the magic imbued upon him from the minions strange source. but he had children, and they each fought for control. each took a small part of the hives, grew them, and stole artifacts from their sires lair. but then, as they just found out how to use their strengths and had children, the dwarves, men, and elves banded together and killed the fledgling overlords, stealling their hives, artifacts, and killing the minions, scattering these sacred objects everywhere within the realm. but again, the overlords had had children, who knew to stay hidden. these children formed fammilies, and for centuries, had stayed hidden. but you each come from a specific family line( if we go with this) and have decided to hide no longer. you have found a small piece of the brown minion hive, one out of the 4 fighting classes, and out of the 6 total ones (i added 2 hives, i always wanted specific... minion types) you have each grown your hives, gotten enough life force ( how to spawn minions, kill things to get life force) to house three minions, and scavanged some old armor and an old axe.(trying to be as close to the game as possible) you must fight the other overlords, but you must gain the other tribes of minions, the artifacts, and grow your horde, while punishing those who would DARE rise against you. grow thine horde overlord, listen to your minion master, and rule the very WORLD with your magical prowess! (btb, i am gonna put magics in here.)

Name: Children of the Apocalypse

Setting: Post-Cold War

Historical Information:

On 26 September 1983, a Soviet early warning station under the command of Stanislav Petrov falsely detected 5 inbound intercontinental ballistic missiles from the US. Petrov incorrectly assessed the situation as a state of emergency, and reported his finding to his superiors. Because Soviet policy dictated immediate nuclear response to inbound ballistics missiles, nuclear weapons were launched at the United States, thus initiating the Third World War.

The War lasted for two years. Millions died from the invading armies and the nuclear explosions, as well as the fallout that ensued. After the United States and the Soviet Union declared Victory (in fact, many historians believe that there were no victors), the war was concluded. Much of Eurasia and Africa fell under Soviet and Chinese influence (creating the Communist Hegemony), and the Americas, Oceania, and the rest of Europe fell under the command of the new American Empire. Despite these gains, huge swathes of the world were reduced to Wastelands.

Objective: You must choose a faction and recall your journey as you either explore the Wastelands or try to survive in a human colony.

^That was my idea that Archi was talking about in the poll.

It's a lot like Dungeoneering (as far as events and stuff). It also has some Hegemony aspects (but this isn't very dominant, really). It, probably above all, has aspects of the Zombie HQ/Survival game.

I haven't thought about skills. It sounds like a good idea, and I'll see what I can do with it.

It's more of an exploration game. There's a lot of ideas that can come out of it.

Marksmanship

Strength

Defense

Construction

Health

Farming

Endurance (how far you can travel in one unit of time)

etc.

Where would it be based?

You just choose a faction, and we go on from there.

We need to make a map with all of the major human colonies on it.

The only bad thing that I can foresee is if people choose colonies that are far apart, which would limit player interaction for a long time.

Factions are the Communist Hegemony and the American Empire.

The Communist Hegemony would primarily be based in Asia, Africa, and a lot of Europe (excluding possibly the British Isles, France, Spain, and Portugal). The American Empire would include the rest of Europe, Oceania, and all of the Americas.
