When should I start cooking monks?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm level 83 cooking at the moment with no cooking gaunts. I've got tuna in the bank to take me to 85 but at what point should I switch to monks? Before I was cooking tuna to save money but now my merchanting seems to be doing OK (well, 3 days) and using dailies like battle staves I'm making about 200-300k a day with almost no effort, so I can more than cover the cost of the difference between cooked and raw monks. I was thinking of starting around 87 but is this a good idea or should I start at another time?

Oh, and I need to stop merching fish cause I can't buy any more fish for another four hours!

92 is the recommended lvl because its when you stop burning them the most (you will still burn a few as even at 99 i burn some occasionally) you can start at 87 but you will be burning about 8-10 out of a full invo (reason i did swords until 92 then monks to 94 sharks to 99).

Try getting the cooking gauntlets, it is very useful.

I'm 75 cooking and used the gauntlets to cook 600 monks and burnt only 56 of them.

By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest;

Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.

You can get Cooking Gauntlets from Family Crest, and if you already got a different pair of Gauntlets, you can change them for 25k? I think.

@Championsfurydelta123 Can't you use the keyboard from Accessories?

NEVER! I did 70-82 Lobsters, 82-92 Swordfish and 93-99 Sharks. NEVER do monks! The are too unpredictable to use.

I concur with the this. Cooking gauntlets don't really affect how you burn and cook monks. In the long run you'll lose more time and money if you use monks. Try lobsters and sharks.

Or... if you want me to answer your question anyway... I'd say 89 or 91 ish

They actually have quite a bit of effect from my experience. I cooked from 90-94 without burning one (with gaunts), and then took them off and burned a few in that very next inventory. You won't lose time if you use the gauntlets, so I'd highly recommend getting the gaunts, and then start from around 90.

I was talking about cooking monks, not cooking gauntlets. They are good but you lose too much money.

I was talking about cooking monks too. That last statement isn't always true, just watch the market, as sometimes it's not too bad.

At 84 with no gauntlets I burn on average 1 per load. Monks are awesome and super fast to fish.
