Very interesting ranged slaying section. I wouldn't have thought of MSB. What about adding a hand cannon at 99 firemaking? I don't know if it would have higher DPS or not, just throwing it out there.

The hand cannon DOES have higher DPS than the MSB. However, the cost of the shot (~300+ k/hr) and the rate of explosion (another 4-500k/hr) as well as the relatively marginal upgrade it provides (~1-8% depending on the defence of the monster) probably makes it inefficient.

I did a task of hellhounds earlier and I found that with a yip, EEE + spec restores and a few monks I was able to tank them, but I don't have any experience using a combat familiar there so praying might be necessary in that case.

Yeah, when I used a geyser titan, I needed to pray protect. Also, I didn't bring spec restores. If you're praying piety/turmoil and wearing prayer gear, protection prayer only costs another 2 or so pray pots anyway.

Spec restores + EEE sound ftw though, since it's technically 400 HP per potion and a good way to get rid of those.

It's worth noting that full bandos + SW cape is only slightly lower prayer than proselyte + fire cape, so you can comfortably use protection prayers in full bandos. For hellhounds, I'd probably just opt for the protection prayer. I prefer it to soul split flashing.

l wrong thread

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

I'm far from an inexperienced slayer (level 99 with 15.7m xp and counting), but after reading your guide I'm questioning a major part of my slayer gear that I've literally used for years; my Dragon dagger (p++). In the special weapons section of your guide, you mention how it has lower DPS than a whip. Therefore, would I get more kills per hour if I simply stopped using my Dragon dagger altogether and only used my whip for slayer tasks?

Next question: You rank Korasi's sword as better than the Dragon dagger (p++), but then go on to say that it has lower DPS than a Chaotic rapier. Would it then have a higher DPS than a whip, making it the best special attack weapon if one cannot afford Dragon claws?

Thanks for you advice.

That was a typo, the DDS has higher DPS than the whip (I'm pretty sure, at any rate) but lower than the rapier. You should use Korasi's Sword over the DDS, though.

KS max hit: 858 Average hit: 572 Berserker (i), no fero: 556

DDS max hit: 546-546 Average hit: 546 Berserker (i), no fero: 526-526

Rapier max hit: 672 Average hit: 336 Berserker (i), no fero: 325

Whip max hit: 608 Average hit: 304 Berserker (i), no fero: 296

All with max setup & fero in kuradal's. Average hits obviously not taking accuracy and poison into account. I didn't include claws because it may have a non-uniform damage distribution.

Err my point is that dds spec > rapier no spec on tasks like greater demons, gargoyles, LRC and such. It's still worth using. Of course KS will still average higher, but you use more special attack energy and it's no good in multicombat.

I always found it annoying that when poison kills the monster, you don't get any slayer XP. This happened to me a lot when I slayed with DDS.

Also, the DDS spec still isn't nearly as accurate as the rapier. I'll check the DPS calculations again though, you may very well be right. KS > DDS because of the accuracy and the fact that it rarely, if ever, hits low. In multicombat, you're probably best off with a DDS.

Claws > all no matter what. I don't know how Jagex did this, but the specs DEFINITELY hit more towards the high side than the low side.

Great guide. A few things though.

First, for whatever reason, if you don't have a zammy book, book of law has the next best range attack. And ancients is the next best mage attack.

second i've always found EE to be better then sgs for healing just because sgs is so random and doesn't heal much pray to make it that useful.

ring of rigour is also worth mentioning since it has only a few points less strength then zerker but lets you use specs more often.

And I havn't ranged for a long time on tasks but wouldn't mercenary gloves be better now for range slaying?

And lastly, the pictures are nice but it would be better if you also had text to go with each because for some people pictures don't load everytime.

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

Hehe only the point about dds matters to me, really, the rest was just to wrap it in :P.

But yeah, dds hits over 50% higher than rapier if both attacks hit, that's why I figured it'd be good for ct fire giants and stuff (which are multi). Also I like dds spec, then rapier, because it often 2-hits greaters and I try to get 4 in a row :).

SGS is better than EE, but EEE is better than SGS.

I would hazard a guess that zerker > vigour in terms of DPS. Zerker (i) is the best, though, hands down.

The highly hypothetical situation of perfect special recover usage & perfect ring switching might make the ring of vigour a good item to use with claws, outside Kuradal's dungeon. Well I say to that: lol. Not going to happen.

Also, sgs hurts dps. I'd take EE over it since rapier hits more (one more hit per spec bar).

You've been using soul split too long.

Incidentally, I got Seer's Elite done before hard, and when I did hard and picked up the reward, I walked around for 15 mins looking for the elite reward person :wall:. Walked all the way from Seer's to the Lady of the Lake, teled back and walked it again to get the elite enchantment... not using a guide sucks.

I mean, using defensive special weapons is pretty much only for lower-level slayers (maybe EEE is good on a select few tasks besides DKs, more likely not). Most lower level slayers will not have extreme ranges and thus won't have an EEE.

I should clarify that, though. Thanks for the comments.
