Seraphi
Mather, after giving it some thought, I'm kind of confused as to how that self repairing metal would work. After all, there isn't some universal "Template" which the metal assigns itself to. If a hole is blown in it, it wont fill the hole. How would it work? Yeah, okay Icu, why not. After all, there isn't some universal "Template" which the metal assigns itself to. If a hole is blown in it, it wont fill the hole. How would it work? Yeah, okay Icu, why not. I was thinking about this recently, if a person was to regenerate woul there arm grow back perfectly or be more like a lump, so I decided that these regenerating people would require a sort of computer which would map the regeneration to the shape of there arm. Bier
15% of the budget goes into better amour and weapons for the military during this decade, so around 50-55% should be left for other expenditures. South Africa also invades Zimbabwe with about 150k soldiers, no specific tactic this time either since there is only one city. The invasion is only made if the attack on the Ivory Coast is successful which was ordered about one year ago. Also, regenerating arms and such is biologically possible even without computers, and the cyan country is the protectorate of someone, it was posted some pages ago. The_Mather1
Normal metal is crystaline, amouphous metal is not. A crystaline structure prevents internal movement whereas amorphous ones allow it. When an atom is removed the crystaline structure is weakened, but in an amorphous one another atom moves to fill the spot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amorphous_metal Twitter: @TheMather1
Icuownage
Ok, Kirby you can research that in my university if you want. It wont cover a trillion, but it'll give you more ships you can build. It's a REALLY big shaft.I didn't catch fire, I used the can of hairspray as a flamethrower and pointed it at my arm.how are you going to ignore my posts when I'm offering to let you live as my vassal in two weeks time? Seraphi
Yes, but Mather, that's in the case of a single atom. What happens when an explosive hits it and billions of atoms are removed or displaced? The metal does not have a genetic code with which to refer to when reforming a lost limb (To answer Hex's question), so how would the metal reform in the same shape? That wikipedia article states that pretty much the only difference between that and regular metals is that it properly flows when heated, is slightly more elastic and has a higher tensile strength. I can't see the benefits over carbon nanotubes, which are stronger still. Basically, it IS useful and possible, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't "Heal" as such. The Dark Lord
Due to the Egyptian hostilities in the region, the 500 Knights and missionaries and teachers stationed in the Congo are using any resource that is available in order to set up makeshift fortifications around villages. "We will not yield to Islamofascism," said Sir Arthur Wilkes, "We will defend these poor villagers if necessary."Honestly? What have I done to you...? You haven't done anything to me, but it is a reasonable assumption that you'll invade the Congo, which could potentially be dangerous for the Knights and volunteers that I already had stationed there. Assuming that some of your men will raid and pillage villages, it is pretty fair for the Grand Master to assume that the villagers are threatened. It heals kind of like us, when a surface is scrached available blood cells (atoms) fills the void, when a limb is lost the wound is closed. Here's a more in depth article on the healing efect, though it is not from wikipedia:http://www.solve.csiro.au/0806/article2.htm Twitter: @TheMather1
Seraphi
So it basically acts as a metal with a higher tensile strength? That's what I just said. When you first said "healing metal", I instantly thought "Terminator" so yeah. As it turns out, if you hit it with an explosive, it's going to go boom just like regular metals, meaning it's use is relatively limited outside of industry, where it shines. The_Mather1
Ross, it can also take bullets and weaker shockwaves better than normal metal, also when certain alloys are used it can become twice as strong as titanium, making it perfect for hulls. Say the hull is shot, then the hole will seal, say the hull cracks from a shockwave, that will heal too. It would also be usefull for rifle barrels since it resists wear. Icu, you can have my nanobots, you just have to research programming for each major field. Twitter: @TheMather1

Seraphi
Mather, I don't think a hole made by a bullet would heal, since the space in the centre of the hole is empty, what would stop the metal applying the same way to everything around it? It wont heal a bullet hole. Also, Icu, how many damn projects do you want? People should at least take penalties for having over 10 going at once, or else everyone is going to end up doing that and we'll all drown in a sea of overpowered war technology. The_Mather1
You research as you need to, it's more like preparation than actual research since it shouldn't take long. The nano-bots themselves are finished, but they lack programming. Twitter: @TheMather1
