Poor Man's Lob Burst setup?

Bagman

Recommended Posts

Looking for a cheap yet functional lob burst setup if that exists. I was looking at the guide and it had a lot of expensive gear involved, but I was curious if there was a cheaper, slightly less effective set-up that some lower level'd folks could use.

Once again, if it exists, thanks for any help.

You could substitute Ahrims for Dagonh'ai, but the SoL really does save a lot of runes and the damage boost is nothing to snuff at. Also, expect to be crashed A LOT with welfare gear. Was there anything in particular that looked too expensive?

Which guide? I wanna look too.

A practical and semi-cheap one would be Combat robes, Sol, Guthix book, glory, Mystic boots, barrows gloves, god cape, seers ring/lumby ring.

Drops: Black Mask.

Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff.

If you can't even afford Ahrim's, you should be killing waterfiends.

Hes referring to the AOW guide. If by semi-cheap, you mean over 25m worth of stuff per trip, then yes, youve got it :P You outlined a nearly optimal setup, apart from the boots, glory, and ring, which are minor.

I figured you would post something like this :P Just aim for ahrims, a stole, mage cape, zammy book, barrows gloves. Perhaps by the time you get 75 mage to use my SOL, you will have enough for ahrims, and then can burst efficiently. Dont worry so much about the gear. Use what you have for the ~600 charms you need and you will be fine. Please critique this setup :)

I can't see his levels, but if you're considering bursting lobs you could pull out 25m to sell back later, anyway.

You should FoG your own robes if you don't wanna pay the street.

Other than the combat robes, is there anything you could suggest as a welfare setup for him? I dont have much experience in bursting lobbs, so i cant be too much of a help.

First, are you sure you're prepared to sink mils into supplies?

If so, this is almost as good as the expensive setups. Really, equip doesn't matter too much.

Maging setup:

Full mystic

Best rfd gloves

Stole / Glory

Rol

Prayer Book

Sol / ancient staff / water staff

Luring setup:

Same as above

Full proselyte/initiate

The only loss is if you get a melee dag on you, because you can't tank like ahrim's can.

PS: Battle robes aren't worth it unless you happen to enjoy fog. They take more time than you can reasonably expect to save in runes. Meanwhile merchants on the street hoard the sets that are in circulation, and it's not worth paying anywhere near street for the benefits.

Disclaimer: The above is probably inaccurate.

The greatest cost in bursting lobs comes from the runes. Hence why the combat robes/Sol combo.

If he wants to bring 1-2 hours worth of casts to get used to it, this setup is adequate:

Full Blue mystic

Barrows gloves

Ring of Life

Glory/God stole/Mage ammy

Water staff

God book

Wildy cape/God cape (Not cloak)

Again, long term lob bursting costs come from runes. Just bring that if he's looking to get used to it.

He may have to bring more food/some brews and restores as mystic won't help at all against the daggs and wallalskies.

Edit @ above. I calced the savings of the battle robes at being worth it unless you earn more the. 1.4m an hour...

Drops: Black Mask.

Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff.

Sorry, rephrase.

Battle robes are worth it, ignoring the cost of purchase.

The current street price is ridiculous, however. I wouldn't bet on being able to sell it back after either, if that's what you're suggesting.

I would only consider them worth it for someone who enjoys playing fog and getting their own set as a side benefit.

(You can get really quick wins with ancients + spec rushing.)

Disclaimer: The above is probably inaccurate.

They sell in the ge rather easily from what I've heard. Buying them is another matter...

I agree to compromise with you. Fogging your own set does take heaps of time and it's only worth it if you plan to burst for ages.

Assuming the street price is 25m, you'd have to burst like 50 hours in battle robes for it to be more efficiant...including the purchase cost.

If these are the same Battle Robes that are worth <750k in the ge they wouldn't really be worth reselling, you may as well just keep them and recharge them for later use at castle wars or something. And if you want to get street price back for them, you'll either have to have MASSIVE amounts of junk or want something else that's undervalued in the ge (Ever wanted a crown/royal robes?).

You can sell them back with the same junk that you got buying them.

Unfortunately, anything extremely overvalued tends to be unstable. And I don't just mean mintcakes.

Personally I'd wait and see what happens when people start getting tomes of frost, and whether merchants will sell their sets or continue to hold them.

While you dungoneer for a tome of frost keep an offer for battle robes in the GE and keep updating it. I got a set for under 1m this weekk after having an offer at max for maybe three days or so. If you add an SoL which you can just sell after you are done it bursting will be uber cheap.

PM me in game anytime

That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying.

I hate dungeoneering and don't know how you could possibly get more then 8 tokens an hour, so I can't comment on that.

Ok, I worked on my technique, got used to the lure/run there, and I didn't do too bad.

I only got about 42 crimsons, but it was fun, and I am willing to try and get better at it.

However, are there any other options for me to find crimsons? I still feel I am a bit too under-leveled to do this effectively. I heard that dust devils are not a bad way to go when it comes to crimsons, and was curious if that was worth it. I am going to attempt to make my cash back spent on my casts farming herbs from chaos druids/picking fungus/kill green dragons or whatever else is fun and easy.

Safespoting black demons in the chaos tunnels if you want to train range. They are a pain to kill but a crim almost every kill

Waterfiends are a tough gig with stats under 80. You wont last too long at them per trip, and will likely have trouble killing them, especially without piety and/or a slayer helm (assuming they are your task.) Give them a try though :)
