Shepherdman7
Efficiency pros, I'm asking you for help! Thanks for taking the time to read and give some advice. I've started mining concentrated gold and superheating it while I mine. Before going too much further with this, I'd like to know if this is a good method for overall training. I've heard from a couple of friends that it was, but has it been tested? If so, please point me in the direction where I can read about it. I'm ALL about efficiency, and I would like to raise all 3 skills (Mining, Smithing, and Magic). That's why it appealed to me. (Current levels are 90 Mining and Smithing, with 89 Magic.) Any other advice or xp rates would be welcomed, too. I've been using the gauntlets of course, with lava staff and just natures and a d-pick in my inventory. Any trick to speeding it up? I've started using Mining Golds cc as well for calls. *******"All that is gold does not glitter..."
Piu
You're better off selling the gold ores for some other ores to superheat, imo. mhch720
No, you're wrong (to the above poster) you can use your goldsmithing gauntlets from family crest quest, to get you double smithing xp.
Vulxai
You're better off selling the gold ores for some other ores to superheat, imo. The GP you save will grant you more xp/gp/ I'd have to disagree. If you Superheat gold ores as you mine the concentrated veins, you're getting Mining, Smithing, and Magic experience at the same rate as just Mining it. The money you make by just mining and selling doesn't justify losing all that experience, imo. ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~
lagatag
Yeah, I'm going to do this (maybe, if I ever get around to crafting a bunch of natures). You end up losing money versus making money, but I think it's worth it to get mining, smithing, and magic xp all at once. Wear varrock armor if you have it. I also recommend a BoB at LRC vs obby/lava titan. I just feel like banking less often is easier. I can only use war tortoise, but I noticed it boosted my mining xp/h by about 4k average. I don't know which is actually faster overall, but since you're superheating as well mining too fast might actually be a bad thing since you might have to stand around to finish superheating. Goldenjkered
I've been superheating mithril bars in the mining guild lately, and that isn't bad mining/smithing xp. You can bank the bars, and either sell them later on, or make them into mithril platebodies. Shepherdman7
The money you make by just mining and selling doesn't justify losing all that experience, imo.Is that right--that you acquire the gold at exactly the same rate as before when mining? I always wondered whether superheating was slowing me down, but if it isn't, my question's answered, and this is the way to go. I'm also using Varrock Armour 3 and a Pack Yak. Thanks for the responses. I'll keep checking in case others have wisdom to impart. *******"All that is gold does not glitter..."
i_r_slayer
Yeah the efficiency is undeniable, it does not interrupt mining in any way. If you want to be even more efficient and need magic experience, bring some noted items to alch as well.
Grimy_Bunyip
using pack yak scrolls *could* be efficient.it'll save you about 3 runs per hour between ore rocks the bank and for 65k gp an hour.it doesn't interrupt mining either, and it should be castable while your are casting superheat. depends on your income. I don't feel like calculating this but it's always nice to use rules of thumb.Consider this: a lvl 91 RC with a graahk run earns about 18k profit
