Quiet Before the Swarm 24-Jun-2010 & Free to play quest changes
Shepherdman7 replied to Toad's topic in General Discussion
If the economy is supposed to be going haywire from this, how come things seem to be pretty normal in the G.E. for the herbs and bars I'm in the market for? And I can't even sell dragon bones at all...? Seems like those would be snatched up by somebody... Then again, I can't buy or sell d bones right now, other than from myself... -
What's my goal on the third part of the puzzle?
-
Interestingly, once you're on the island, you don't need to wear it to bank. If you right-click and bank quickly with the easternmost banker, you won't have any dialogue to go through and won't need it. Not sure if this works with the other bankers. However, if you talk to any NPCs, they will catch you without it and boot your from the island.

I'd have to disagree. If you Superheat gold ores as you mine the concentrated veins, you're getting Mining, Smithing, and Magic experience at the same rate as just Mining it. The money you make by just mining and selling doesn't justify losing all that experience, imo. Is that right--that you acquire the gold at exactly the same rate as before when mining? I always wondered whether superheating was slowing me down, but if it isn't, my question's answered, and this is the way to go. I'm also using Varrock Armour 3 and a Pack Yak. Thanks for the responses. I'll keep checking in case others have wisdom to impart.

Efficiency pros, I'm asking you for help! Thanks for taking the time to read and give some advice. I've started mining concentrated gold and superheating it while I mine. Before going too much further with this, I'd like to know if this is a good method for overall training. I've heard from a couple of friends that it was, but has it been tested? If so, please point me in the direction where I can read about it. I'm ALL about efficiency, and I would like to raise all 3 skills (Mining, Smithing, and Magic). That's why it appealed to me. (Current levels are 90 Mining and Smithing, with 89 Magic.) Any other advice or xp rates would be welcomed, too. I've been using the gauntlets of course, with lava staff and just natures and a d-pick in my inventory. Any trick to speeding it up? I've started using Mining Golds cc as well for calls.

Do people still range the Ogres near Ardougne on that training ground? Seems like a good spot, since you aren't able to cross over and effectively bury their bones if you wanted to.

New question in the original post, although I'll post it here as well: NEW QUESTION Why is it that when I'm using mousekeys (both normally on the numberpad and with the keys mapped elsewhere,) that whenever I use the right-click button, my left-click button then starts making "right-clicks," and I'm left with only that ability, to right-click unless I use my mouse? Thanks, Shep

Wonderful. Thanks again for the information. Last questions: Do I discern correctly that right-clicking with my keyboard is out of the question, then, because there is not a right-click option with mousekeys (that I know of)? Never mind, just figured out how to right-click with mousekeys. Thanks again!
-
Thanks for the reply! I see SharpKeys is a "Registry hack." Is this likely to cause issues with my anti-virus/protection software, or to go unnoticed by it? I'm not too tech-savvy, although I think I understand most things so far. Also, will SharpKeys enable me to map my mouse clicks to keys on the keyboard, or just other keys on the keyboard? I suppose I could have mousekeys on and map my NumPad "5" to something else, but mapping right-click would be awesome as well. Feel free to send up a red flag (anyone) if this is not a legit thing to do in playing RS. I definitely don't want to break any rules as a law-abiding citizen of Gielinor. Thanks!

EDIT: NEW QUESTION Why is it that when I'm using mousekeys (both normally on the numberpad and with the keys mapped elsewhere,) that whenever I use the right-click button, my left-click button then starts making "right-clicks," and I'm left with only that ability, to right-click unless I use my mouse? Old Question, already answered: This is a random question probably to most, but honestly, I just don't want to have to reach across my body to click on the "5" on my numberpad to make my mousekeys "click." It seems like this would be legit since it's just one input for one output, like other mousekeys. Can someone help me out? Thanks in advance! -Shep

Some of us are also sick and tired of hearing the same story all over again... I have no doubt that a very large proportion of every type of businesses work in a way to create "artificial voids" in order to fill them through "bait, hook and status quo" strategies. My question to you is this: should self-pity be praised here? What is the appropriate reply to someone whinning about what a failure he's been? (this is not a judgement call, this is what the OP seems to say while at the same time saying he's overcome his weakness) An addiction is mostly the result of weakness in a person rather than external forces directing that person through a wrong path. People need to take responsability more. Seems to me like taking responsibility more is exactly what Snowboarder is doing, so why are you not encouraging him instead of kicking him while he's getting back up? If you've read the post, you should try doing so again with preconceived notions set aside. Snowboarder, props to you for your course of action. Addiction is tough and more prevalent by the day, it seems. Kicking it is a worthy effort, and I believe you're right to take drastic measures like you're doing when faced with drastic consequences (whether the consequences have all come about or loom on the horizon). I don't believe that you're hoping for pity but rather to encourage others that may need to take that same course, and I hope your purpose there is accomplished. Best regards.

I suuure hope this means 5x 200k xp lamps for the five elite diaries + some xp lamps for the lumbridge hard diary I'll let you guess where I intend to put those xp lamps. I haven't been following your posts, but I'm guessing it's Dungeoneering? If so, keep in mind that you'll likely need level 85 for that first. Maybe you're getting close, though. -
So a longsword (even promethium) isn't that great? Nice tip about poisoning the spear. Sure seems like the winner if you can get the strong poison on it!
-
Lovely tip; thank you!

Accounts purely for autoing are rarer than macroers and other forms of AFK now, I think. While being AFK is against the rules, it seems a large amount of people think it's perfectly fine to do. <_< Does anyone know if a banned account still shows in the highscores? I'm ignorant about this, but I wondered since I've been trying to deal with the macroers I run into lately.

Mark Gerhard testimony in Bruce vs Evony case

Go Bruce! -
They are going to take back all the extra xp that people gained over Bonus XP Weekend!! Yeah, that joke wouldn't go over well, would it?
-
His goal is 300+ rank, not winning. Trying to win adds variables whereby people ultimately get slower ranks. Suiciding, you can get the max of 12 ranks per hour easily and still have plenty of reward credits if you invest right.
-
Yak-hide work serves the purpose as well for relatively cheap (though slow) xp.
-
There's no point in using heavies and trying to win since you can get max 12 ranks/hr. It's better to just AFK it. That's true; forgot about that. Speaking from experience, I would suicide but don't spend all your time looking at another window or tab. Before you know it, you'll have been killed early by a greedy person looking to get better reward credits. You must survive until the 26 minute mark to get a rank.

I remember fleeing from cows when my HP got low. I remember looking at Falador guards and thinking, "I can't wait until I can attack those. That will be awesome." Later I found out that I could actually attack something with a higher combat level than me, so I'd attack one of them and then run... I was a skiller at first, and Mining was my first love. I could mine iron for hours and never get tired of it. That has changed.

What if someone took a pouch above their level in to While Guthix Sleeps, where your stats get boosted to like 255 or something? I didn't think to try it when I was doing the quest, but does it work? Would someone be able to take that familiar somewhere else afterward? That's the only summoning boost that I know of besides the cape itself, which would be no help to you... I also recommend 87 Smithing for the runite limbs. +4 is a million times easier than +6 with stew.

Thanks.

This equates to 19 hammers, to save you further math. Slight high-jacking of the thread, since the original question is answered: Anybody know how many addy plates a hammer lasts for?

I didn't mean that Jagex was going to stand and deliver to the USA, just that it was an advantageous time for a big update. (An aside, since you bring it up: while Jagex is based in the UK, I don't think their player base is. This must sometimes put them in an awkward spot.) Honestly, though, I'd agree that early early summer is more likely and a better choice to be fair to all. I did say I was doubtful about it being this week. I can only find one comment from one person complaining. Is that the lot of us? Edit: Looks like it came today anyway.
