Fire Cape, 90 Slayer, 130 Combat, 85 Ranged
Well, this morning I garnered my very first Fire Cape. Interestingly, I didn't have trouble staying calm after dying to the mighty Jad five times before this. Losing to him a couple times yesterday put me in an odd spot last night, though--I kept dreaming about prayer switching. And you know what? I was much better at it when I woke up! Must be one of those things which is 90% mental... Got 85 Ranged in the process. Also achieved 90 Slayer, so looking forward to trying out the Dark Beast, although I'm hoping for more of the Wyrms right now. Three desert tasks and still no focus sight... It'll come. Getting 90 Slayer also brought me 93 Strength and 94 HP with 92 Defense soon to follow. Also made my first extreme range and magic pots. Boosting to 106 Ranged from 85 is very nice. Still got to work up the desire to train Hunter to 80 so then I can get Construction to 80... <_< EDIT: Found out a little while ago that my Fire Cape has been nerfed to some extent with the Ice Strykewyrm changes coming next week. What's picked my day up now is the fact that I just got a Focus sight from a Desert Wyrm task. "It looks like it'll help my aim..."

The F2P General Discussion Thread
I just wanted to say that I'm so excited for F2Pers to get a new skill! Hang in there guys--it's coming! And a new quest too, apparently!

16-Feb-10 Familiarisation (POST YOUR CLUES!)
So what are the best cc's for this right now?

16-Feb-10 Familiarisation (POST YOUR CLUES!)
So it sounds like I can wait to use my reward of 40 mins triple charms whenever I want when I read the following in the KB article about this D&D: QUOTE: If you enter the spirit plane again before taking your reward, however, you will only be able to hold on to a maximum of thirty piles of raw shards from your last trip. Any more than this you had previously collected will be lost, so it might be more prudent to take your reward before entering the spirit plane again. /QUOTE So, basically, I can do it each week as soon as possible, but just wait until I have a Waterfiend task to utilize the triple charms, am I right?

16-Feb-10 Familiarisation (POST YOUR CLUES!)
I wonder if it works with BORK?!?!

MTK- "The storerooms are full!"
If he doesn't know, make sure he does: he should switch the collection to 10 Herb and 5 Maple wood before collecting. (You are able to switch before collecting, just choose "no" at first.) I'd be really interested to see what he got out the deal. Can you post a list of everything? (Also, could he empty all nests and show what they have, if possible?)

Strange power
Agreed. I think they did it too early, unless they have a follow-up event that's similar. Yesterday's Q&A suggests that they want to do more of these kinds of things.

I love Jungle strykewyrms
You, sir, have no room to complain. After about 15 tasks and canceling a couple others, I'm still waiting for my first!

Uses for the staff of light
30 less stab. zammy spear has 85 stab and dspear has 65. That would be 20. staff = +55 Dspear = +65 zspear = +85 Well, he said 65, I didn't bother to check it. He said D spear was +65, not the SoL. Also, because he pointed out that the staff is one-handed, he's right in that it's only 10 less stab bonus when combined with a rune defender. It would also have +2 strength bonus over the ZS. In general the ZS would still be better, but the spec on the staff makes it very good, I would think, if you've brought down Corp's defense or if you've got to use a dragonfire/anti-dragon shield against the dragons. (I'm not sure how much better it'd be than a Leaf-Bladed Sword in that case, though.)
-
Which piece first?
Super antifires are 85 herblore and it costs more than 35M depending on your level. A bandos chestplate is equally as pointless at his bank worth, given that it has less defense than barrows and only enough strength bonus to increase your max hit by one. I made my first super antifires at 80 Herblore. Stews FTW! The ideas Morionic delineated are exactly what I did, and I've not regretted it once. Granted, if you do'nt fight many dragons, you'll probably want to choose a different route.

08-Feb-10 - Musical Update & Strykewyrms
I'm dying for an ice wyrms task. The only tasks I wont skip are abby demons, waterfiends, miths, and spirit mages. Everything else goes. Too bad I have zero points. <_< Well, you could always go back to what we did in the good ol' days-->Burthoping!

Prayer training : soul wars, pest control, or dragon slaying?
I kill a lot of dragons, and with 77 atk and 98 str i very rarely make above 400k an hour, usually average about 300k. i'm sure this goes up with a higher attack level - But i can't imagine anywhere near a mil per hour, and i reckon 600k an hour is still pushing it... Captain, remember to take into account the fact that with gilded altar, you still have to bury the bones, whereas with the others, just a few clicks does it. Also, Gid, I think you must be doing something wrong. Anyway, at the OP's levels, I'm sure he can garner quite a few bones and some other XP besides. I'd suggest dragon bones, still, since he's got the altar already. That is, if he's set on DIY'ing it. Otherwise, if he has a better moneymaker, maybe he should be doing that and buying all the bones.

Quick Note
Weirdest thing the last couple of days... I've had two herbs runs that each yielded 52 herbs. Pretty good stroke of luck considering I've only ever broken 50 once before (51 several weeks ago). Say hello to a quick 400k profit! EDIT (19 Feb): I happened to have a run with 53 herbs the next day. Haven't broken 50 since, though.

gilded altar
By the way, if you're ever planning to train Prayer to 99, I believe it's worth it to build your own. You re-coup the cost in time saved. However, for 1k bones, try the forums. The house party world in Yanille is normally a good place to go, too.

RuneScape Q&A Andrew
I'm glad to know that the new skill won't be a money-sink, as well. Herblore is eating up all I have! Also, a money-sink skill would be awful harsh on F2Players, who already have limited methods for making good cash.

Zerker Ring
Actually the game maxes at 12 ranks/hr. I went from 1-303 last week. Trust me: suiciding in Siege scenario at 26 mins with light units is the way to go. If you're only imbuing the one ring, wait until rank 250 or so to start investing credits, and then invest the most you can at once (15k). This will get you better return than investing at lower ranks.
-
Pest Control
I agree with Joe--get two more combat levels first, because the points add up. It will also make you better suited for efficiency at Barrows. I don't know of any clans that are highly efficient for that level. Just try World 144 and see if you can find any.

Since the Last Update...
Well, since last updated, I've done the following: Thieving 74-80 (Saturday's task), allowing me to get one step closer to completing the Elite Ardougne Diary Herblore from 84-86 (and I made my first Extreme Attacks and Strengths) Currently I'm quite frustrated with the way that merchant clans destroy the G.E., making it impossible to buy the Herblore supplies I need to continue advancing. Beginning to think I should get my Hunter, Runecraft, and Agility up as they are the only skills I have that remain below 80. Don't want to be caught off guard by the next quest or elite diary.

Post and discuss all Jagex Twitter updates here!
So, other than the Orb, it seems F2P did not get an update this week, correct? So... Rune Mechanics is what the red-mist-that-floats was all about, or was it the Orb? Or could we *gasp* see another update this week? (Highly doubting the last one...) This is really much less of a big update than I thought it was going to be.

Last Week & This Week
Figured I might as well start up a blog here. Not that I expect anyone else to read it; if they do, great, but I mainly just wanted to journal a bit of my avatar's journey to remember it by. I think I'll try to log something here on a weekly basis or so. Last week's big accomplishment: Full Void Melee and Range sets. I guess I also went from 80-84 Herblore in the last couple of weeks, finishing that last week as well. This week's accomplishment: Rank 1-303 in Mobilising Armies, as well as imbued rings (Archers', Seers', Berserkers', and dragonstone). I think the onyx ring (i) is a bit overrated at +1 of everything the dragonstone one has to offer, so I'll wait on that and maybe never get it (onyx prices being currently out of control). I've got enough reward credits saved to buy back any of the rings if I lose them. If you're not me and you read this all the way through, kudos to you! Thanks for stopping by and feel free to drop in anytime.

Some random tips
The OP said 10 normal trees and 5 fruit trees, so Paw was correct. Vulxai, thank you for directing us to that good thread! Grega is correct about the trees, though. Let me explain it another way: he said you can plant 10 per day, not that there were 10 patches. You can plant each patch twice in a day. (This applies only to the tree patches, though, and not the fruit tree patches.)

Some random tips
If you're on lunar you can't cast spells such as High Alch unless you can cast spellbook swap. If you don't high alch that means less room as you're not going to leave behind decent rune items. Also means you have less space due to the runes for NPC contact. Also if you're not 96 you need tabs to either get to your house and use the portals there or get tabs and teleport to locations there. Either way you have to teleport so bringing tabs with you to the master helps, and you are also able to restore prayer/summoning after getting a task. Also some people like to skip/block tasks, which result in them having to go to the master any way just to get a new task. Yes, I forgot to mention tabs. They do help a lot. And you're right that you get more advantage at 96 Magic than before it. Too bad tabs aren't available for alching, saving an inventory space... <_< NPC Contact runes don't need to be carried during a task. You can use them from the bank where you must go on any route before starting your next task. If you have a piece of jewelry or home tele, you can use that to get to a bank fast after your task. You also have a good point about blocking tasks, if people aren't willing to tackle them. I currently only have three blocked because I like doing the rest, but this probably applies for some.

Some random tips
Hey, he was giving random advice, not asking for random destructive comments. Here's my two cents on what he said: Some people do need help knowing which choice is most profitable out of the ones available to them. He did pick great ones for pure cash. There are trade-offs where experience in a skill you're training may cost more with the method you're using (in which case, the XP lamp/book may outweigh the cash from items). I believe Grega means something more along the lines of, "if you don't have much time to play the game," or, "if the time available to you only comes in 5-15 minute intervals," farming is a great option for training. Also, while there are only five tree patches, Grega has taken into account the fact that you can farm them twice a day (they grow much faster than fruit trees, if you did not know--great tip for those aspiring to 99 quickly). He didn't say there were 10 patches. Let's imagine you use the methods Paw has described for traveling to Slayer masters. They are quite good, although even better for Sumona is using a Ring of Slaying. If you use the Fairy Ring to reach Kuradal, also use a Ring of Slaying to travel first to Relleka where there is a handy Fairy Ring. Remember that if you use a method other than NPC Contact to get your every task, after receiving it from a master you still then need to travel to a bank to prepare for your task anyway. (Someone using NPC Contact can get their task from right inside a bank if they wish, possibly saving them more time than you think you've saved by traveling to the NPC and then going to the bank.) Imagine you save only 5 hours in this process to 99 (I think 10+ is probably likely, though). Does anyone really believe that saving an extra two drops worth maybe 2k-10k per task will outweigh the gp you could garner in 5 hours of moneymaking using your best method? And it may be more than 5 hours you've saved! NPC Contact kicks butt for Slayer training speed until you can use Kuradal, where I think it is more ambiguous. At that point, if you have a glut of Ferocious Rings, it's probably faster traveling to her and then banking. One might find it useful to switch between these methods at the late stages of Slayer.

Getting Mobilising Armies Ranks Fast
Thanks for the reply. Forgive my ignorance, but how is this done?
