Ffs slayer again

Featured Replies

New question top page 2.

like slayer, usually.

I dislike training and making cash, as they annoy me.

I like dungeoneering, but it doesn't get me slayer or very much combat exp (plus my diy argonite spear p+ is waiting for an alch and to be replaced with a prom one.).

So slayer's 9/10 the way to go.

However, after a little discussion with my miserly side, I'm not going to go the efficiant way. Sure, it'll get more exp per hour/cash/blah blah I don't give a [cabbage]. Lol.

I'm looking for an absolute basic setup that I can use, being as miserly as humanly possible without stupidly crushing my defensive/offensive abilities (full mith is out, for instance. I could mine and smith it for free but meh.)

At the moment I'm looking at:

Slayer helm

Glory

Sw cape (cba to get a 99, not just for the cape. Plus it looks hawt.)

Defender/anti dragon shield

Whip

Lbs

D boots/rune boots/suppliment

Lumby ring 3

B gloves

Rune top/bottom

I can borrow a crush weapon from a friend for waterfiends tasks. Not included is prosyl for tasks I'll have to pray (metals).

I'm going to start off with these pots/pouches:

50 prayer pots (for praying tasks). 20 antifires, 10 super antipoisons.

20 yip pouches, 20 bird pouches and 10 tort pouches.

I have a budget of 57m, though I want to max out at around a tenth of that if possible. I want to try and keep at least 50m banked in cash, though it's going to go under for a while (herb seeds, mtk, ect.)

Suggestions?

(side note: limps or marigolds? Always done the latter, not overly concerned about profit if the difference is about 500gp or something.)

with ur bank id advise to buy a guth set, and maybe a range ammy for those range rasks.

the guth body/legs can then replace the rune body/legs and can be used as an extra healing methode on tasks that hit more then ur bunyip can heal.

get a fire cape tho... isnt that anoying to get and its way better then sw cape, if u wont, sw cape is fine.

replace the explorer ring with a slayer ring, u save 1 spot in inv + it can tele u to the most important places. if u havent bought the ability to make them yet, do it asap!!

buy some sup sets also (or make em), it speeds up tasks quite a lot and doesnt cost that much.

do seers diary hard part, excalibur is worth a lot and it removes the need to take sup def pots and even sometimes guth spear/helm with u on tasks.

for the side note, i prefer the limps, some more xp and they are usualy quite anoying to buy in ge.

And yes, enchanted excalibur is certainly worth the effort of doing the diary.

Not strictly on topic but I'd just like to say that imo keeping the majority of your bank wealth in cash is a stupid idea. The value of cash over time only ever deteriorates. There's not much point in having 50m cash and a glory, you'd be better off with 40m cash and a fury. You should only use basic equipment until you can afford to use more advanced equipment. Having all that money in your bank won't help you with slayer, having better equipment will.

I always have around 4m in my bank for my regular needs so that if I see I'm running low on something like monks/pots, I can stock up without it being a problem. Generally my cash amount will go up without too much effort due to regular MTK and clues. If my cash ever get's to around 8m+ I'll go out and spend it on either some particular equipment that I want (like recently I bought a FSH) or some levels (like pray).

In short, unless you're saving up for a particular item or rare (which I don't really see the point in unless you're swimming in money anyway) stocking up on money while using inefficient equipment is just going to slow you down.

give F2P a penny and they want a dime; give P2P a quarter, they want 100,000 dollars, your car, house, boat, social security number, credit card numbers, drivers license, clothes on your back and everything you ever owned or interacted with ever

I'm saving up for better items, which i'd prefer to buy all at once.

Do you really need guthans + yip? That's like overkill O_O I'm happy to use some food on tasks, I think i'll be right with yip + food.

If i'm being a tightass, is it really worth using super sets?

Its worth using super att/str all the time. You shouldnt need guthans and bunyip for tasks where you dont pray anyways, just bring some lobs or something. So sad how guthan became outdated for slayer =(

How worth is it? :|

I'm going to stick with yip + cheap food, sounds like a plan.

Since you're looking for fun, tedium will kick in later if you use super sets.

Tsjilp.png

Don't listen to people guthans is horrible for slayer nowadays. Bunyip is enough for most, and if not bring monks/trout

It's great you know what you're talking about rustiod. Everything you've said is 100% accurate a true.

Dont use guthan. If you need food, bring SGS, EE or monks, but you won't need them all that much (maybe a few for nechs, dusties and fire giants).

Use super sets for sure. They are totally worth it + it's more fun to hit higher and get tasks done quicker.

  • Author

I know that I can survive with minimum food and yip on most tasks with torags, but I wasn't sure with rune. Guthans is terribly outdated if you use good gear, but I'm not using good gear...:P

Should I bother with a spec weapon? Dds or Ee are my options, but ee is like 5m (cooking + fleching...plus fletching is slow).

Edit: Using super sets now. If I use a spec weapon, I'll pot up when I spec. Running a calc on gear ATM.

Drops: Black Mask.

Guthans is terribly outdated no matter what. EE really isnt that great for slayer. 20 hp every 5 minues.. Not worth giving up dd specials.

I was thinking of saving cash on tasks where I'd use a super def pot. I've got lrc ATM for instance.

On that note, what tasks are good to block? I've got a few things blocked, can't quite remember, Hellhounds and Black demons are blocked though.

Full rune is 200K.

Whip is 4m (going up or being merched)

Glory is 70k

Slayer helm is 1.6m

D boots are 500k.

Fury is 13m, I'll get it if it's good for the long term.

Bout 6 and a bit mill without fury, 20m with fury. :S

Drops: Black Mask.

Clue rewards: Sara Plate, 2 Robins, Some other random stuff.

Super defence pot is what.. 800 gp? So. you save 1/4 defence pot and 3 trout every 5 minutes. thats like. 320gp. not worth it.

I'd block the tasks that you don't enjoy, cause the game is all about fun :)

I dunno what tasks I don't enjoy though. I've only had 3 Kura tasks (irons, steels, lrc).

I'm probably looking for tedious tasks with melée (I don't want to range/Mage any tasks at this stage)

It's kindof stupid to wait to buy high level gear all at once, when you can get it piece by piece and enjoy the benefits longer than you would if you got them all at once, plus you'll get used to the slightly different usages faster than a huge transition down the line. Lastly, if you REALLY cba to get anything better at least put the cash to work by merching, investing, flipping, etc.

I'm kinda stupid then. I see no point in running around in full rune and dfs... Better to get it all at once. At least you don't look like a total tool then.

You may want to get a cheap barrows top and bottom for those harder hitting tasks. Fire giants in the chaos tunnels at your level come to mind. That's the only thing that I can think of actually. If you don't get or do fire giant tasks, sticking with rune armor works just fine.

  • Author

I'd probably be using super defence pots for those tasks.

Is it worth investing in a fury for the long term?

Drops: Black Mask.

It's probably the best all-around amulet in the game. If you have the money, I would recommend that you buy it. And once you do buy it, just keep it and forget about the price tag.

I already mentioned I have about 57m.

I'm gonna go for a change of pace. If I make more cash per hour or get a decent amount of exp/hour, I may as well go all out efficiancy wise. What's the best way to do this at my level and budget? I'd prefer not to cannon, because it's a huge cost per hour n

A DFS is a completely superfluous piece of equipment that you will never need to reach efficient speeds. Melee barrows armour and karils instead of rune and blk d'hide respectively, a ZS instead of an LBS, a fury instead of a glory, things like that that are fairly cheap (Except for perhaps the fury, still worth it though) can really boost your exp per hour; really the only thing that's really expensive that would be worth investing in for slayer would be D Claws. And no matter what you spend your extra money on, be it skills like pray or herb, higher level equipment, a large stockpile of common supplies like p pots, or investing, it's better spent than sitting in a pile in your bank gathering dust (Unless you predict massive, and I mean MASSIVE deflation soon).
