May 18, 201016 yr (note, this probably is better in the debate form but isent that form gona be removed anyway) something i realised, one of the new items from dungeonearing is the Scroll of augury. Unlocks the Augury prayer when used, which boosts your magic attack by 20% and magical defence by 25%. oh fine and dandy, a new prayer to help mage along  hay wait a second, +25% to mage defence?to think of how this is inportent, lets say a mage and a meleeer is dueling, same level, both normal prayer books ect. at the start of the duel the mage prays pro-melee, and meleer prays pro-mage.the mage prays Augury prayer to boost his mage attacks.the meleer prays Augury prayer to boost his mage defence. end efect, both useing prayer at the same rate (check needed), but the meleer has a +5% boost in mage defence over the mages boost in accuracy. does this seam fair?why should a mage prayer help the meleer more then the mage?end of teh world or will this prayer be so uncomon (77 pray and d'nearing) as that its efect will be allmost zero. in my opinion, to put it bluntly, fail.although i say, even after a long time, this prayer will not be comon enough to be a major problem, but thats still not really a reson to do nuthing. I'm a Brony and proud of it!
May 18, 201016 yr I don't think it would make a lot of difference. After all, wouldn't the meleer be better off using piety/turmoil? There are three sides to every story: There's one side, there's the other, and there's the truth.
May 18, 201016 yr The meleer should use piety. Though we don't know the drain rate of Augury, in PvP situations running out of prayer is rarely an issue.
May 18, 201016 yr The knowledge base is wrong when describing Augury. It does NOT boost magical defence by 25%. In game the prayer states it will boost magical accuracy by 20% and Defence (as in the skill, just like Piety) by 25%. It is essentially the magic version of Piety, hardly a low blow at all.
May 18, 201016 yr It previously said magical defense in game too, but kb remains unchanged. Unless someone gets the prayer, uses it, and posts a picure of the hide statistics button, we'll never know what JaGeX means.
May 18, 201016 yr Piety is technically the same, as it would boost the players melee attack and defence. Augury does the same thing only with magic. Whips: 3 Dragon Boots: 15 My 99's: Attack & Cooking Youtube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Goldenjkered
May 18, 201016 yr Normally I would count on the KB being wrong; when dungeoneering came out it was very hard to verify our (crews) data with it because of it's bad credibility. Even now, there are loads of things still wrong, eg: http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/dungeoneering_slayer_tables#slayer_rewards , look at the stats of the protector's and guardian's ward. But, as said before, the ingame prayer only says 25% defense; but two KB articles say 25% magical defense, http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/dungeoneering_rewards#scroll_of_augury and http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/prayer_the_basics#prayer_effects We'll just have to wait and see  Suggest a poll for Tip.it - Here!
May 18, 201016 yr The Knowledge Base is notorious for providing blatantly false information, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's incorrect in this instance as well. It's a frustrating situation, but there's nothing to be done about it. I've reported KB errors on the designated RSOF sticky on a few occasions, and yet the necessary corrections have never been made, so I doubt appealing to Jagex will resolve anything in this case. At any rate, I'm inclined to side with Zalok: The knowledge base is wrong when describing Augury. It does NOT boost magical defence by 25%. In game the prayer states it will boost magical accuracy by 20% and Defence (as in the skill, just like Piety) by 25%. It is essentially the magic version of Piety, hardly a low blow at all. May 18, 201016 yr Yes, I believe they meant Magic and Defence raised by 20% and 25% respectively. Besides, the majority of magic defense seems to come more from your magic level than your defense level (minus the whole better gear argument) and a meleer wouldn't be praying Augury when fighting a mage.
