das1330
I have only driven two manual transmission cars, both are sports cars and both are tons of fun to drive but I assume a Ferrari and Corvette would be fun to drive regardless. Outside of high performance cars however I see no point in manual transmissions for cars - you are not going to go racing in a Honda FIT - outside of cost concerns. Saru Inc
Manual. though i don't drive, i prefer manual That makes no sense. I mean I prefer cake, but I don't eat food. Whats with everyone thinking Manual is all ba. I bet half of them who think that would stall out within 5 feet. Heh. I guess like most things its a mindset, if I'm ever running from mobsters I'll be pissed 'cuz I have an automatic. I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. Jeffwilson99
besides, is there even a market for autos outside canada/us? I think so, there's always going to be people who are more comfortable drving autos because of the simplicity. Especially older people, it's probably safer having them concentrating on the road more, rather than changing gears.
K4ylan
Automatic. Personally, I think it's better, less of a distraction, easier to drive, less idiots likely to plow into you. ~~~The Harpy List~~~Harpy Facts~~~It's Super Effective~~~The Beginning~~~Harpy Therapy Center~~~Alg~~~Jedi Harpy~~~Rohirrim~~~Attenuation~~~
Doomster
Learned manual, but have an automatic and wouldn't ever want to go back.. Does anyone lament the loss of the manual choke, now it's automatic on most cars? Why have another control that's only to do with getting around the limitations of the technology. One other thing though, tried CVT and hated it, now maybe the car was a much abused demonstrator, but the pickup point for the stopping clutch was just so wooly, you either didn't know when it would pick up, or you got a jolt. I gather there are some CVT's that can go to zero drive without needing a declutching system.
____
Automatic. Personally, I think it's better, less of a distraction, easier to drive, less idiots likely to plow into you.I disagree - the fact that all you need to do is steer makes it easier for idiots to get their licence. And...We have that in Australia, sort of. When you go from your L (Learner) licence to your P1 (Provisional or Red P's as we call it), if you go for the test in auto your only allowed to drive an auto, manual you can drive both. But when you get to P2 (aka green P's - Me) you can drive a manual again. I basically did this because the only car I could get and afford was auto so i didnt have a choice back then even though I can drive manual. This is just wrong. It makes no sense to allow people to only drive an auto for a limited time, then let them drive a manual when they have never been tested on their driving ability in one. They start doing things right - light the 100hrs before being able to go for the P's - then do something stupid like that which negates the entire thing by letting them drive a transmission they probably have next to no experience with.
