Herblore: How to make it less expensive.

Featured Replies

I recently got 55 herblore, and it cost me 300k... from level 54. That was 15k experience. How can I reduce the ridiculous prices of herblore down to a more reasonable level? I farm my own herbs, before that is said.

Thanks for any help.

Kill druids or make more money. I really don't know of any other ways other than farming and mtk.

clean herbs.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

clean herbs.

I was under the impression herb cleaning, while slightly profitable is extremely slow exp.

Solo an arma hilt.

As you get access to new herbs cleaning them gets quite fast for the cheap/even profitable experience , on some herbs.

It's not slow xp time wise, it's slow xp clickwise. You can still get upwards of 250k xp an hour, but it requires a lot of clicking.

Are you sure on that figure? 250k+ exp per hour?

IDK about 250k, but it is extremely fast. Use mousekeys. I wouldn't really even bother without mousekeys.

Any guides for using mousekeys? I've never used them before as I rarely go for high exp p/h in anything.

You can clean something like 6k with mousekeys or a laptop to click faster. So that's what? 82.8k xp per hour with dwarfs?

Laptop? I use a laptop and 86k per hour with profit would be brilliant. Explain how you might use a laptop.

slowly move your mouse down the row while clicking rapidly, mousekeys are still better though.

Using Miscelania on herbs is very nice, you can get like 20-40k herblore xp a week, depending on your herblore level and what pots you make. Just set it on 10 herbs, and 5 raw fish or maples. Also, save all your different herbs from training obviously. Also, don't just go buying potions, or making potions. Pick some potions that give alot of xp, for relatively cheap price, and make those. Also, don't farm the herbs you need, farm the herbs you make the most money with, sell them, and buy the herbs you need for best xp. Or farm avantoe, which happens to be both at the same time if you are training herblore longterm (e.g. 84+). The secondary is easy to collect (250 fungi per terrorbird is what I average), and if you set papayas to your fruit tree patches, and leave them, you can get 30 or 60 papayas daily. Do 3-6 herb runs a day, and you can get about 140 avantoe a day average.

I have farmed 750 avantoe seeds into 5.6k avantoe, and gotten 63-72 herblore off of Miscelania and penguin points in that time.

EDIT: and to clean herbs with laptops, just turn on the touchpad and use those buttons to click. Use the mouse attached to the computer to move the cursor. Just spam click the touchpad. With concentration its about 6k herbs cleaned an hour. Cleaning something like kwuarm, and then selling nets you small profit, and small herblore xp.

clean herbs or make barb pots.

for herb cleaning i don't use mouse keys and clean about 8.5k herbs/hour. I just move the pointer w/ my external mouse and click w/ the laptop mouse buttons-- it's impossible to accidentally drag herbs that way. herb cleaning's over 100k xp/hour and profits if you watch the market carefully enough.

It may appear cheap at first, but If you consider the cost in time, you may end up being better off doing a more expensive method. Herb cleaning is less than 100k exp an hour, barb pots are a [bleep] to make. Between the two of them, the method drives me mad, so I would pay 10 times more to do something less terrible. Just raise cash and do it using untradable pots. Definitely do that if you plan on getting 90s.

How is it costing you so much if you farm your own herbs?

I'm farming avantoes, and buying mort myre fungi, and I can make a profit when I sell the pots.

Staurolite.png

I consider farming herbs a money-maker, not a viable method to train herblore. The huge numbers of herbs you would require to get a decent herblore level is impractical. All I was talking about was opportunity cost. You need to calculate efficiency instead of trying to make it as cheap as possible, or providing all the herbs yourself.

Nice tips on money making, but it doesn't make herblore cheaper, in fact probably more expensive since you are compromising, you

aren't farming the most profitable herb, nor are you making the most cost effective pots.
