pityme
Hi guys, I recently got waterfiends for my slayer task, but i don't know if im ready. I read the tip it guide but it seems like some decently expensive stuff is needed. What cheap equipment could I use while still providing a decent fight? Stats are 80 atk and def, 81 str, 68 range, 58 prayer. am i ready? thanks!
Kimberly
I would recommend skipping. I don't know how effectively you could range safespot them (which you can find a diagram for how to here) and your melee stats aren't terribly great. Always wait for more opinions though, could be wrong.
Sephy_
I doubt it would be extremely efficient but I'd say give it a try, that's the best way to know. Though I'd atleast get those couple range levels for black d'hide.
Obtaurian
They're a hard task at lower levels. You need black d'hide and a zamorakian spear at the very least. You should also use the best prayer boosting cape you can get. Your summoning level will determine whether or not you should skip, though. If you don't have a bunyip, you should probably just skip. To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
pityme
Ah kk i think i'll skip :/ i despise range enough to get those few levels before the task x-x, now i got assigned black demons, should i go for it oO
Kimberly
There's nothing really remarkable about black demons. They drop effigies, they give a good amount of crimson charms, but have no profitable drops. You can safespot them with range or a hally, but it would be very slow going. It's up to you really, as you stand to benefit either way depending on what you want to train. :P
Blake
They are still profitable for higher levels meleeing with prayer, but idk about your levels.
Knight_Zaros
Ah kk i think i'll skip :/ i despise range enough to get those few levels before the task x-x, now i got assigned black demons, should i go for it oO If you want to do waterfiends, I found a similar/different method. I know it looks like you skipped but it may help you down the road or someone else. Magic defense armor (karils/black dhide at least) with glory/fury, etc. Magic defense stuff get it as high as you can. Ancient staff + defender on crush (strength) worked best for me. Yes I said ancient staff works great, its not a whip speed or power but a good crush weapon that most people have or have access too. Bunyip rocks there too so if you get 68 summoning helps out tremendously. reddawn509
Well, as I'm sure you know, crush weapons are essential for effectively slaying waterfiends. Most people assume that to do this effectively, you've got to use either a Saradomin Sword, or a Zamorakian Spear. These two are technically the best, and if you can find someone to loan you one of them for a few hours, or even a day, you'll be set. However, another good alternative is the dragon mace. It's slower than either the spear or the sword, but it has decent stats, and a great special attack. With your summoning, I can also advise a good tactic to the get most out of your inventory space (assuming you've not unlocked fairy rings) Fill your inventory with a super attack and strength potion, ~6-8 prayer potions, alching runes (I generally bring enough for 50 alchs, you won't use that many, but it's a nice round number), a spirit terrorbird pouch (NOT summoned, just hold onto it until you get into the ancient cavern), a one click tele ( a charged glory works well here to save space) and the rest of your inventory with the best food you can get. Once you enter the cavern, summon your terrorbird, and fill it with a few fish, and a few prayer potions, to give you room for all of the drops available from waterfiends, the more you can pick up, the better your profit. Alch any armor or staffs that you drop, and adjust your inventory and whatever's in your terrorbird according to your needs. I did this before I got 68 summoning, and could get anywhere from 20-40 kills depending on shark drops, which isn't too bad. Or, you can just skip it until you feel comfortable in your stats to do it well. Good luck. Edit- you skipped. Ah well, might be useful anyways.. SirIzenhime
get 2 range levels for black d hide, then for future tasks, wear black hide, and pray protect from range. Basically just fill up on food, a few pots, and hope for a good ammount of kills. Bunyip rocks there too so if you get 68 summoning helps out tremendously. Not even worth a mention, I've tried it and the speed of kills is TERRIBLE compared to even a gs much less an ss or zs. Imo they are too much effort until you get a bunyip so just keep on doing the high charms tasks like black demons or dust devils until you get 68 (And get that range up too ;-) ). http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22 99 Necromancy since 11/22/25 Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 33 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 10 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
