opu
I think there should be that kind of option, reason  Some of my friends have started to play rs and then i ask them to tell me where they are, then they say i dont know etc etc, then i ask like "whats near you? what sort of monsters etc" and they try to explain me something like "Here is fence/wall" or something stupid so i cant figure where they actually are.... So it would be nice to tell them to examine the ground and then when u examine it, it says something like "You are in western Varrock/southern, Northern Falador etc etc etc" What do you think ? McOwned
All they need to do is improve the quality of the newcomer map a bit, then. It would crowd up the right click menu also if you could examine every bit of floor. Retired from runescape(Banned for bug abusing)

Triplets_KGB
Should be a dot on the newcomers map to show where they are. If they don't know where they are, then they're kind of stupid

I'd say the answer is improving the newcomer map, as someone stated before. You should also get one automatically, if that's not the case already, when you leave tutorial island. It's been a while, I can't recall :) lpinkus
Toxicologist
Agreed. Newcomer map should be automatic and more detailed. Why do you resist? My experiments are only helping humanity push the boundaries of the Art of Toxicology... you should be proud to be one of my victims. ~Toxicologist~

Bubsa
I'd agree with the newcomers map improvement, the examine floor option I'm not so hot about. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
tintmangbpack
i like the idea with the newcomers map it would really help a lot of new players. How about this for an idea, just ask someone around where you are or how to get there, I know some people are real jerks and will say n00b or other crap like that. But i will almost always help out a new player, unless i am in somewhere like al kharid and thy ask me to take them to Yanille, jk. Your true character is what you are like when you believe there are no repercussions.

primadog
I agree with OP. If you ever been to a foreign country, you'd be in the same boat as OP's friend. Runescape is a whole new world, so it takes time to learn to navigate and figure out where you are. I agree improvements are needed. The other's suggestion on improvement in the newcomer map is definitely something Jagex should look into.
