Napoleonic Hegemony

I have an evil plan, but it doesn't involve war or even a hostile act.

Besides, I think that it would be more fun if you duked it out with the revolutionaries. If anything, I would exploit weaknesses AFTER the war, rather than before.

Meh, I have no strong desire to fight Doom...merely to roleplay the situation in a semi-realistic way...which would be to protect my fellow Monarch from the unruly masses.

And since, historically, there was no war, just a kidnapping, escape, recapture and excution...I want to make sure it isn't easy....

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Well it isn't really an evil plan either. I'll give everyone a hint though. It involves tons of cobblestones, a large "magnet", and a lot of builders.

I meant foreign troops. I don't want to be bordering another country.

You plan to create a sand storm using a particle accelerator to smash cobblestones together and then blow the resultant mass over Europe! :-o

Quick, power up the RFG!!

My plan doesn't involve any complicated science past the Napoleanic era.

Spain opens the worlds first strip club in Caracas. For only 10 ducats, a woman will show you a small portion of her stomach for 10 seconds.

It's super effective!

This thingy is constructed.

Plans are being made to add a new section to the city of Saint Petersburg. It will be an example of Russian rebirth following the downfall of the nobles. Roughly 1/4th the size of the original city, its roads will be completely paved in stone and the plots will be sold at a decent price, mainly for the bourgeosie.

In the center will be a grand merchantile square, where traders from all around the world will meet to discuss their business ventures. Adjacent to the square, construction begins on a massive performance hall, which can be adapted for operatic, symphonic, ballet and chamber musical performances. It is designed in the same style as the Winter Palace, which will still be larger and grander, but it comes in a relatively close second. (Do you think ten million ducats for construction is a fair price?)

Then, musicians and composers from all around the world are invited to come to Saint Petersburg. Their payment will be one thousand ducats, which is up to five times the regular payment for composers and ten times the regular payment for performers. I'm expecting around a thousand total performers, composers, and such. This will cost roughly one million ducats a year, or 6 million per reset.

Now the additional flourish that makes the grand performance hall even better. Every single evening, there will be a performance. The order repeats every week, with mainly new compositions cycling with older popular ones (so it's always new). The performances will be primarily chamber music, with ballets every week. Symphonies and operas will take place every month. The ticket prices for the performances will be cheaper than regular, but since it is expected to be completely packed every evening, it should cover the cost to bring all the performers, composers, and such into the city.

Wake up early in the morning and eat a small snack

Go to the market square at noon and eat brunch with clients

Secure a deal by afternoon and discuss with other colleagues

Go and see the performances in the evening

----

All expenditures thusfar have left me with exactly 20 million. Nine million paid on each reset for five technological fields. < Reference post

First ones were built in 1850 something...So Rocco will derp you for this.

Also, and this is purely observationally...

Russia doesn't have any bourgeosie...the 10% of budget being wasted through inefficency every year kinda indicates(to me anyway) that Russia hasn't recovered yet.

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

As Dusty would say 'Sometimes things occur out of time and I will not be swayed by these isolated examples.'

I was making a general statement because 1850 is when they became sufficently common place...and these are worker's houses...not metropolitan centers.

Plus I didn't feel like researching something that Retech would ignore and Dusty would have to research himself anyway....

Oh...and 1786 is in the future as well.

He's building a bunch of theatres, not super duper train mounted death rays Arch.

Archi, should you or anyone Invade my country, Imperial or Revolutionary, it will be the end of your country. I have had no plans to attack anyone, so trying to nip the conflict in the bud has only served to worsen relations, especially in of that you, before any troops even fought in battle, asked France to surrender it's colonies, and permanently cripple both Imperial, and Revolutionary France. Not only this, but you asked for us to pay the deployment costs of your troops, before they even fought us. Those are terms to give after one is the victor, not after.

Pamphlets and revolutionary speeches now include words about the defeat of the Monarchy's Great army, proving that they can not only be defeated, but they can't be relied upon to defeat us.

Hegemony-Spain

But that's done with, and fair warning is out now. In that case, no real harm was done, except to weaken the monarchy.

Hegemony-Spain

Those are terms to give after one is the victor, not after.

If one expected the sides to accept the treaty then that would be true.

Anywho, as I have said, my interest is not defeating you, but making sure that the game doesn't get wrecked when a super power emerges...since Hegemony cannot EVER be relied upon to rally against the greater enemy...

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Russia pledges support for Revolutionary France, as it shares its ideals more or less. < In a philosophical kinda way

Also, Russia has begun the expansion of its Baltic fleet and construction of the Black Sea fleet, to counter threats of coastal attacks and whatnot.
