Why is searching by title names not working?

Hi.

 

 

For quite some days now, forums search doesn't work. It works fine when I don't check the "search by titles" checkbox,. but this is pointless.

 

Only time I use search, is to search by thread titles.

 

I would like to know an estimated time when this gets fixed, it's uberly tilting.

That option is search by titles ONLY, not search by titles.

 

And it rarely works because it searches for exact, so unless you type the title in word for word that option won't produce anything. But without it ticked it does still search titles.

I believe it should search for a phrase in title if it's working correctly.

 

However, even if it does only search for an exact match it still isn't working.

Fine, "search titles only"... Not that much of a difference, you got my point, no need to nitpick, okay?

 

And you are missing my point...

 

A week ago or so, if I checked the search titles only checkbox, and for example, searched for the word "runescape", it would bring up a bunch of threads which thread title contains the word "runescape"

 

 

Try yourself and you will see it is not working.

Tried it and yes indeed it didn't work. Maybe try other means of searching instead. Might help.

Other means of searching? No.

 

Using the title search on tip.it forums was one of the best things here. I could surf around looking at stuff that interest me. Now it's gone. Why?

 

 

And why hasn't a forum mod posted yet? I seriously want to know if and when it gets fixed.

We mods have no ability to do anything about it. But we have viewed it. I would just wait for one of the tech admins to reply.

Sorry for the delay, I spoke to our tech, and this issue should be resolved after our next forum software upgrade (This week).

I was trying to find stuff containing a phrase, "bronze dragon" in this case, and could not get any likely guess to work. I then tried to search for dragon in the titles and got no matches. I looked in help and it mentioned "advanced" as a clickable that I never have found. I eventually found this thread. The update has not been made yet, I guess, but you need more fixes I think.

The search feature has been completely rebuilt in the newer version so let us update to that before passing judgement. ;)
