Micromal
Hi there, I have currently stocked up 30m, and I was saving for a dfh. Then the thought struck me - what if there's something else that would be more worth my time? My current melee/slaying setup is dragon platebody and -legs, as well as d boots, fury, slayer helm, whip, rune def/d sq. I don't feel that Barrows armor is of enough use to me, seeing as I'm not high enough cb to be comfortable with GWD, TDs etc. However, when fighting, I mainly do slayer. As such a dfh will rarely be used, due to my slayer helm. I was wondering if then a pair of claws or a godsword would be an idea. I'm really just rambling here, I could as well sell my d armor and save up for Bandos, but I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do either. Proud Quester! crashNburn
Dragon armor is basically cosmetic. A DFH is inferior to a neitz helm for pretty much everything, and barrows armor is superior for legs and chest slots (the degradation is really not a factor). Bandos is widely used because it actually has offensive bonuses, which are quite invaluable. Claws are a decent spec weapon, but not worth it (in general) unless you have optimal gear already, they barely make a difference even with spec restores. They should be valued higher if you're doing a lot of MHing, however. Godswords are pretty much junk. aspeeder
Sell the dragon plate and legs, buy Torag or Dharkok's top and Verac's skirt to replace them, and then buy claws. And no, you don't NEED the extra def of barrows for just slayer, but it will help and it's FAAAAAAR cheaper than full dragon (12mil versus about 4mil) for better stats. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 32 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 9 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
Sir_Squab
You know, in the shot run, you'll have more money if you sell the dragon platebody and get a cheap barrow set. DFH is purely cosmetic as the last person said - you want slayer helm for slayer, and I still love the Neitz due to a combination of price (cheap) prayer bonus and str bonus. And before a dozen people say this, I'll throw this in (not that I necessarily agree with it) "Get veracs skirt, torso, firecape, piety all tasks, d claws for spec." You have no idea how many times I see people recommend some variation on that >_< Personally, I'd at least swap out the dragon plate for torags/dharoks/guthans plate (depending on what's cheapest.) Barrow degradation isn't too much of an issue imo. Then you should have like 6-7m or more, depending on prices, to spend on other things. Squab unleashes Megiddo! Troacctid
"Get veracs skirt, torso, firecape, piety all tasks, d claws for spec."I don't think a dozen people here are likely to recommend torso. It's generally bad. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP

Elf Spice
Sell D plate/legs/sq, get full bandos and zerker or warrior ring. Then do Nomad's requiem for a SW cape. You will then have nearly optimal slayer gear.
Ddude42
Dragon armour is a waste of money, Bandos is the best gear but it doesn't make THAT big of a difference while slaying. Invest in a Verac plateskirt, Guthan/Torag/Dharok platebody, Berserker ring, and then get a fire cape and soul wars cape. You could buy Dragon claws because the special attack is devastating on slayer monsters, but a Ddp++ is still quite good, and a fraction of the price. Otherwise, I'd strongly suggest you use the extra money on prayer potions so you can use at least Superhuman strength on every task, and use any extra money for Barrows repairs, food/potions, and training the expensive combat skills (herblore, summoning, prayer, magic). Norriie
Exchanging stuff only to get more money kinda goes against the point - what would you recommend to spend the money on?True, however, exchanging something for a much better alternative is always a good idea. The fact that it's cheaper is just a bonus.Barrows is really worth it, that's why so many people recommend it. I personally suggest you spend the money on the following:-Barrows armor (v skirt, torag/dharok top).-Berserker ring if you don't have one- you didn't list it in your first post so I'll assume you don't.-68+ summoning.-The rest you can either save for bandos/claws, or invest in herblore over bonus exp weekend. Herb prices are crashing again, you should be able to get a lot of exp with that much money. aspeeder
Exchanging stuff only to get more money kinda goes against the point - what would you recommend to spend the money on?Did you miss my recommendation that you should buy claws? If so, I'll repeat it here: get claws, they are by far the most useful offensive spec weapon for slayer and general killing, which seems to cater to your playstyle. Either way you should exchange dragon for barrows for more money so you can merch with it, especially since you'll get far better armor by doing so. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 32 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 9 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
Quyneax
Sell dragon plate + legs, piety tasks. Use a cannon, too. Levels you want: 70 prayer, 68 summoning, 85 herblore, 95 prayer, 88 summoning, 95 herblore, 99 summoning (approximately in order of importance but I'm not sure on the summoning). Gear you want: verac's skirt with prossy top, fire cape/soul wars cape, berserker ring, bandos plate, bandos tassets, dragon claws. Again, in approximate order of importance. A chaotic rapier is more important than any but it's not relevant to the 35m you have to spend.
