Th3_Crusader
Heyy I got my tragus pierced Monday August twenty third. (a week and a half ago.) Andddd I had a couple questions. I went out and bought jewelery for my cartilege piercing (which I got eight weeks ago) And also for my tragus. I switched out my cartilege piercing already because it's been well over six weeks. And I'm just dying right now because I really want to change my tragus piercing ASAP. It's almost been two weeks. So is it okay to switch my tragus barbell piercing with the new piercing? Or should I wait a few more weeks?

Dupin
Body piercers recommend about 12-18 months before changing the earring as it has a high risk of getting infected due to long hair getting caught around the earring, any hair product residue, or improper cleaning also swelling of the tissue can cause the earring to get caught in the skin possibly resulting in hospital surgery and removal of the tragus if the earring is replaced too early. -From the Wikipedia link above. Th3_Crusader
Well I was trying to find someone who has had the experience of one. I'm not waiting another year, and I don't even have hair that would get in the way.
Iamdan
From what I know it's fairly unlikely to cause problems, but it's your ear.
Serpent Eye
Call the tattoo/piercing shop, and see if the artist who pierced it originally can switch it out with your new jewelery. The girl who did my piercing always let me come in and she would change my jewelery for free. Also, if a professional does it, you don't have to worry as much about the risk of infection. magekillr
I wouldn't change it, but it's your risk of infection. If it's a low enough risk, then do it I guess, but I personally wouldn't. After any piercings I've had, I didn't change them for a long long time.
The_Gabe
Body piercing, except ears for women, is just disguising imo. Three months banishment to 9gag is something i would never wish upon anybody, not even my worst enemy.

Or should I wait a few more weeks? No. And no. And no. And no.It's best for your cartilage to wait a year, since it can take a year for it completely heal, because of the low blood flow into your cartilage. I've got four cartilage piercings, one industrial, and two rings, it took my industrial a year to heal, and my cartilage rings are still healing. It's the risk of really bad infections and ear collapse if you change jewellery before six months-a year. Always take care when it comes to cartilage piercings, and NO over the ear headphones, because of infections.
Th3_Crusader
Sue, I was just waiting for you to comment! :) Yeah my cartilege stud, I had to take out because it bled when I was inspecting it. (Wierd thing is, I didn't do anything to make it bleed) I removed it, and since the stud was fake it started to tarnish and turned my ear black. After cleaning it my mom gave me a real stud and so far it's doing better. I was just feeling around my tragus, and it's still pretty swollen. And my co-worker got her tragus' pierced awhile back and told me not to change it for along time since it's about the longest to heal. Sooo I'm stuck with this barbell for awhile.Thankss ;)
Undo
I'm getting mag studs in both ears.Don't needle your ears. Why?Pain in the ass to keep care of. 1. "My ear's in a cup, I guess that doesn't count..."2. "So heyyy, that's a pretty reasonable reaction huh?"3. "So you up for NAFTA?"4. "That went exactly how I wanted it to."
