Bank Pin

Featured Replies

It's really annoying and takes up a lot of time, and I'm thinking of deleting it. Just wondering, to hack into my account, they would have to know my first account name, the one I created it with, right? I've changed my name a few times, and it's not even close now. Is there any way for anyone to find my original name? If not, isn't there 0 chance of someone logging into my account?

I'd advise against thinking that way. You only need some sort of keylogger on your system to get your username and password, or for someone like a 'friend' to see you typing it in. Security is there for a reason and we only have to pin in once per session. Don't get rid of it as you could end up regretting it in the long run.

this. and on a related note, bank all your items when you'e done playing, or when logging off for a few hours. Unless you're obsessed with camping a monster, try not to keep high-valued items on you when you log off.

I know this sounds bad, but i was in the same situation, and as i log on and off (or atleast go to the lobby) alot, i deleted mine. But i also double virus scan my comp every night, but i do know im still at risk

If you have doubts, stick with the bank pin.

Personally I haven't used a bank pin for years now and I don't even use an antivirus software.

I just don't run anything that sounds risky... if you're confident like me and know what your doing then don't use one.

If you go to new websites alot, i would say keep it. If you are like me, and have around 5 total websites that you mainly use, then its your choice.

I don't go off looking at new sites much, can't download as many things, because I'm on a mac. None of my irl friends play, so that wouldn't be a problem. I just can't see any way someone would be able to get on my account, unless someone somehow put a keylogger on, because that's the only way to really find out my log in name. It's kind of like having two passwords.

TBH I haven't used a bankpin since the year they came out and I have had zero problems. Just watch where you go, if you limit yourself to say tip.it, runescapewikia and like zybez then you should have to worry. Its when you start googling runescape stuff that you can run into bad sites.

I can't remember when I deleted mine... but it was a long time ago. I don't feel at risk at all. It's really up to you, and how much risk you believe your account could be in. If you do delete it, and you do get hacked, remember it's just a game. You can always make it back. :)

Deleted mine a long time ago, never been hacked or anything in 5 years or so? No reason to keep it.

This. A few days ago I decided to chop yews for fun and I went to Rimmington. There were like 10 players there, none talked and all had abnormally high wc levels. I decided to search the internet to see how easy it was to get a wc bot for F2P to see the chances they were bots. After ~15 minutes of searching I found several sites with bots. I didn't click on any links on the sites, or download anything. I scanned my computer before I logged back into RS and BAM 6 trojans / java exploits. I looked back at the 'event log' on my firewall and it had blocked at least 10 more.

It`s the RS related sites that you really have to worry about. They`re the ones after your account. The keyloggers and such you can get from other sites (most of the time from `adult sites`) don`t care about your RS account, rather, Your RL bank account. So as long as you stay away from iffy RS sites, you should be fine. But Even saying that, I still think that a bank PIN is worth it. For the 15 seconds it takes to put it in, it could save hundred of hours worth of GP making in the case that you are hacked.
