stab or slash for my rapier

I recently got my first chaotic weapon, a rapier.

 

Since its stab attack is +16 compared to its slash attack, I have the feeling I should always set my weapon to stab attack. Which slayer monsters assigned by Kuradal should be attacked by the slash option or other weapons ( I.E. chaotic maul on crush for Waterfiends)?

Aside from waterfiends and metal dragons satb/slash/crush doesnt really matter outside dungeoneering.

 

Very few monsters have both a high enough level & a high enough difference in stab/salsh/crush defences for it to matter.

+1, in the overworld there are so many accuracy boosters that attacking style rarely matters.

I think it's worth using the slash option at skeletal wyverns - however I don't really have any data or anything to back it up.

 

But since they are weaker to slash than stab it may make a difference.

I use my rapier on slash against them wyverns, but never tried stab :oops:.

 

Guess I'll try that next time.

against abyssal demons, I would recommend slash over stab. I seemed to be hitting more often with the whip's slash than the rapier's stab, although you might experience different results if you piety or turmoil them because the higher you pump your attack the less significant the difference between slash and stab defence of your opponent becomes.

slash on wyverns seems to perform better, but i don't have any data to substantiate it, nor will i get any since i now have both CLS and maul at my disposal.
