Typed Emotes

Featured Replies

I'll make this quick.

You know how if you type

red: [text]

it outputs red text?

well make-

laugh: [text]

make you laugh while saying the word.

or laugh: to just laugh.

etc.

Too many icons in emote list. CBA to memorize locations.

I don't get it.

EDIT: Ohhh. Nvm, I see. That's pretty neat actually. Support.

I've been wanting something like this for ages :o

Good addon, but I feel that something like this is unnecessary.

However if doing something like this doesn't interrupt movement or whatever skilling/combat you're doing, I'm content with this.

Support - simple, but good idea. Got it from WoW?

Sounds good. Would prefer it over searching through all those vague pictures.

They had something like this in Conquer Online, too. Point I'm trying to make is that it's in a lot of mmorpgs, not just WoW.

I really like it, I imagine it would be fairly simple to do. For some of the emotes with longer names, it might be good to put in some shorter names that you can type instead, for convenience. Actually, it might be necessary for the names to not have spaces, although I'm uncertain about this. I'll make a list.

Jump for Joy -> Jump

Blow Kiss -> Kiss

Goblin Bow -> Gbow

Goblin Dance -> Gdance

Glass Box -> Box

Climb Rope -> Rope or Climb

Glass Wall -> Wall

Slap Head -> Slap

Bunny-Hop -> Bunny

Snowman Dance -> Snowman or Snow

Air Guitar -> Guitar

Safety First -> Safety

Give Thanks -> Turkey

Around the World in Eggty Days -> Around

Dramatic Point -> Point

Puppet Master -> Puppet

Of course, it would be even better if some of the more generic ones like yes, no and wave can be done while moving (Perhaps using really short shortcuts like Y:, N: and Hi:?). The more you can animate your character according to what you're saying, the better.

EDIT: I'm suggesting that these can be used as well as the full names of the emotes, although they'll have the same effect, to avoid confusion.

It'll work, good idea. However for those who don't pay attention to the actual playing screen. Would you propose that in the text box, the emote is also suggested? As in like "Name:[laugh]That was a fail."

that would work as well, sounds a little more awkward on the fingers though.

just personal typing preference there.

Well, Jagex could recognise a range of commands i.e Laugh: [laugh] *laugh*.

I was regarding issues when you don't see the emote, because you were in a different tab. And someone where to do emote-speech, would that help, counter balance this aspect? Ofcourse the option should be given to disable seeing it altogether.
