The Illuminati

If there's a topic on this, sorry in advance didn't see one. Also for any reason this is against the rules, sorry. Anyways.

Here's my neophyte question. Basically what is this? Some kind of cult? I've been hearing about this group repeatedly and all I can seem to find is it's a supposed "Behind the throne" kind of group that controls things? Idk. I've also heard that many famous people are involved. Can anyone shed any light?

It's fiction. It did exist once, as an enlightenment-era 'gentleman's club' but was disbanded in the 1700-1800 range. The ones everyone seems to believe shows up entirely in the kinds of conspiracy theory novels that you'd find in the "thrillers" section of your bookstore, or on the History channel.

People think it's a group made of the most 'elite' of the elites of society (Or the worst bits, depending on who's telling the story) that runs everything behind the scenes.

Though you'd think a group like that would do a much better job of hiding itself. Unless that's what they want us to think :ohnoes:

It's a conspiracy theory about some secret organization made up of the most powerful people on the world secretly controlling the world.

Which, to me, is dumb. The most powerful people in the world DO control the world, they just aren't in it together. Frankly, if such an organization existed, in would (imo) be so plagued by internal politics and assassinations that nothing would ever get done.

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

AFAIK Jimmy Carter is a member of the Great North Logde, freemasons

EDIT:

The following 14 US Presidents were Freemasons:

George Washington

James Monroe

Andrew Jackson

James Polk

James Buchanan

Andrew Johnson

James Garfield

William McKinley

Theodore Roosevelt

Howard Taft

Warren Harding

Franklin Roosevelt

Harry Truman

Gerald Ford

Some confusion has arisen about President Carter because he took his oath of office on the George Washington Bible which belongs to St. Johns Lodge in New York City. Because the Bible belonged to a Masonic Lodge many writers assumed he was a Freemason.

This Bible was first used on April 30, 1789, by the Grand Master of the Masons in New York, to administer the oath of office to George Washington, the first president. Other presidents who took their oath of office with this Bible are Warren G. Harding, Dwight D. Eisenhower and George W. Bush.

<freemasons>

The Freemasons exist though. That's fact. They're pretty much the kind of thing that the actual Illuminati was doing, not ruling the world. Hell, they're closer to being a religious organization than anything else. And chances are your home town has one of their lodges at least nearby.

They're also not the same thing. They just get mixed together in the whole conspiracy mythos.

Freemasonry is a fraternal thing. A group where men (mostly men full of merit) discuss their thoughts and do service. Considering the guys I know that are Freemasons, if they were ruling the world I would be pretty content. Although confused - there are a whole lot of them.

But Masons are no scarier than religious (well, Deity-recognizing) sorority girls. Only, kind men.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Hooray for Angels and Demons, twas a good book and film ;)

No.

God, no. It was not.

Well, as much as of the muddy filth it was filled with, it was a jolly-good page turner!

But I admit, the author does tend to fabricate things, alot of things.

The story was good. The fiction was dull. How's that?

Hell of a lot better than his later two, at any rate

It's fiction.

It's working.

Well, I've got to be honest here, the best way for a group like that to stay secret is to be so exposed and publicized that nobody takes them seriously except for the really crazy ones

Exactly. Which is why the American Government never took down Loose Change; the large majority don't believe in it, and the ones that do, they won't do anything except yell from their $5 megaphones.

I've got it.

9/11 was perpetrated by the Illuminati working through its terrorist cells within the US government as a way to destabilize the Bush regime AND the middle east in one blow. When the towers blew up, they spread a toxin that causes atheism and homosexuality in the children of religious parents and belief and conservatism in the children of liberal families. The US government okayed this order from the top because it gave them an excuse to go into the middle east, and the terrorists were cool with it because it gave them an excuse to blow [cabbage] up, but the Illuminati was just in it for [cabbage]s and giggles.

Be right back, I have a documentary to film.

What? It's more believable than Angels and Demons.

I've heard that famous rappers like for example Snoop Dog are in it, and to join you must sacrifice the career of another. Someone mentioned that Snoop Dogs bestfriend was 2-Pac, atleast I think that's who it was, and 2-Pac was found dead with bullets to the head. Truly a thought to ponder over, or another conspiracy theory. With such a big controversy surrounding this group I'm sure many rumors surface.

Just deciding to throw some more things I heard in.

Supposedly, MJ was murdered because of his plan to reveal the Illuminatis plans on his "This Is It" tour, and they had to keep him quiet. Also, Eminems song "Not Afraid" is apparently suppose to symbolize his fight and attempt at breaking free from the Illuminati. The only somewhat convincing thing I've read was Lady Gaga and the symbols she's always making that have references to the society and Satanic worship. The whole Don Killuminati album by 2-Pac is intresting though.

Some people really believe all this, some don't. I don't know if I do.
