Getting into Clue Scrolls

Featured Replies

So after about 2 years of membs and having the same hard clue scroll sitting in my bank for all this time, I've decided to finally start doing clues.

What sort of items should I have aside from the compass/watch and other tools I need? Any general tips for doing them?

From What I understand. You should Have At Least 1 of every item required to do all Urri's emote clue scrolls.

Teleport tabs to numerous place.

having one of every uri emote item is kinda rediculous. i try to have the ones that dont sell quickly or that i cant make myself.

having a bunch of teleports(not just tele tabs) is also a good idea. you will be traveling a bunch so having those is good.

for wildy clues id suggest a forinthy bracelet. i dont know if it still does but it used to prevent teleblock and that is good if you have a rev on your bum.

Well I've got pretty much every single jewelry teleport in large numbers and have access to all main spell book teleports. Are the lunar/ancient teleports useful?

I'll look into the Urri emote items and see for myself what's GEable and what's not. Forinthy bracelets sound like a good idea too.

Yeah, that should be everything. Don't forget your spade.

Splitbark helm

Mud pie

Rune platebody

Rune warhammer

Rune full helm

Rune hatchet

Elemental shield

Blue dragonhide chaps

Blue dragonhide body

Blue dragonhide vambraces

Ring of life

Amulet of glory (uncharged)

Adamant 2h sword

Fire battlestaff

Mithril platelegs

Diamond ring

Amulet of power

Iron platebody

Adamant sq shield

Rune pickaxe

You're gonna need all that for lv 3 uri emote clues. If anything, definitely keep splitbark helm and mud pies.

Aside from the uri items, I generally bring a meerkat pouch with scrolls (takes place of chart, watch, sextant, spade, and you dont fight the wizards when you use the scrolls), 4 sharks, a duelling ring (bank/glider access), a games necklace (getting to wilderness), a forinthry brace, a super antipoison, melee gear, house teles (Having all the portals inside the house is useful), and a chisel to chip the house teles (requires Love Story).

This is coming from someone who does 5-10 clues on a normal slaying day.

If I missed anything let me know.

My tip would be to ditch easy, medium and hard clue, and only do elite. They're faster, easier and potentially gives better loot.

Dragon drops: 82 (2 claws)

Dagannoth kings drops: 73

Barrows item count: 51

GWD drops: 54 (5 hilts: 1x bandos, 3x saradomin, 1x zamorak)

Whips: 4

Sigils: 1x spectral (FFA), 1x arcane (FFA)

i do al clues no matter the level because you always have the possiblity of good loot

chance may not be high but i think they are fun and worth it.

Thanks for the inputs everyone.

@Gibber I'll hold a splitbark and some pies. I also read that I need some snelms, but is that outdated? Elemental shield is also unbuyable and I needed one today so I think I'll hold onto that one.

@Last The main reason I don't use a full kit is because if I go into the wildy I'm afraid I'll die to revs. Forinthy may block teleblock, but you can still be frozen and take a massive amount of damage. Not to mention that teleports don't work past 20. However, I'll definitely work out of a strategy to deal with revs, although things could be diff with wildy coming back.

@Gremmy I'll probably do a few easys and meds just because I'm so new to clues, but I'll probably end up doing only hards and elites.

Glory at lvl 30 wild works. Protect range and wear d hide to fight off revs. I never eat more than 3 monkfish during any hard clue.

My advise is to do only hard and elite clues. My inventory when I do clues:

50 runes of each element + 50 laws

50k gp

Compass

Spade

Chart

Map

Clue

Ectophial

Antipoison

Dramen Staff

4 Monkfish

Gear:

Neitz helmet

Black D hide top/bottom/vambraces (it's very cheap + decent magic defence for when in wildy against revenants teleblock)

Antidragon shield

Dragon Dagger (p++)

Games necklace

Ring of Dueling

Boots of lightness

Spotted Cape

In my bank I have every possible item I could need for uri's emote.

Tip.it treasure trails guide on 2nd internet tab, fairy ring guide on 3th, world map on 4th (guide: http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=treasure_trails_menu.htm).

This way you have all the items you need for clue + emotes, the most important teleports, decent but cheap gear (in case you die in wildy), emergency food + teleport.

I use this for quite a while now and it works fine for me, although many people prefer better armour and weapons (i just dont want to lose anything expensive like whip or fury).

for higher lvl wildy clues you can also use the ardy tele lever, go to the mage arena bank, or use the tele things they look like 4 towers and they tele you to a random place in the wildy. it can help you get away from high wildy but revs can use it. for low wildy clues you can run (use a terrorbird/scrolls)

I dont know what your stats are, but if you have decent armor, food, forinthry, antipoison, and pro mage on when a rev attacks, you should be fine. The three routes to take depending on the clue is:

-Running to the clue from volcano/clan wars (this is for clues nearby)

-Running slightly SE of the volcano to the teleport obelisks, this is the best method for spots that are far out and below the members gate.

-Taking the Ardy/Edgeville teleport lever to higher wilderness above the members gate (make sure you have a weapon/knife that can slash for webs). A bank nearby is the mage arena bank which doesnt cound as being in the wildy so you can teleport from it.

If using the obelisks to teleport, after you get the clue, simply keep teleporting until you get to one of the teleports in lower wildy so you can tele out.

While it depends on your stats, revenants are mostly pushovers, while they can walk through doors/webs, they're still easy to lure behind an obstacle/protect range (it's range that freezes you) and run away.

A tip with the splitbark helm/mud pie clue is to make sure you turn auto retaliate off before doing the emote, otherwise you'll throw the pie and need to get another one.

Tip its guide is very useful, though once you've done a lot of clues, you'll probably only need the coordinate locater.

Be warned that if the referendum isn't just a big joke, you'll have to revert to the old system of wilderness clues. I'm not sure if it was posted earlier (cbf scrolling up), but bring only the basics and a few sharks/monks, and if you're about to die, drop everything except the clue. You should be able to get everything else back with only a little effort, so your goal is to protect the clue, which can't be reobtained if lost.

I agree with this completely, although since im usually wearing my slayer armor, mage is the weakness and the range attack rarely hits/freezes me. Once you start to get into the clues, you will eventually have all the emote items and won't ever need to think about whether you'll have to go to the GE to get one.
