99 Mage

Wingless

Recommended Posts

Hiya. I'm looking for some advice on how to get to 90 Magic, then eventually 99. I'm currently 88, but I'm looking for a cost-effective method of training that doesn't take to long.

What I want to find out is:

Is there a very cheap way to train mage that won't take me several months?

What's the recommended way to train mage?

And lastly, what is the fastest way?

Thanks in advance to everyone!

For me Stringing Amulets is very fast, this is my choice for when I buy 99, however I don't think it comes cheap. I like this method due to the one click per inventory, so it's just like cooking

I did barrows from 80-98. Mind you, it wasn't very time conscious. 98-99 I enchanted in the mage training arena. Was pretty quick (got it in a day, 150-200k/h depending on focus) and only cost a little bit with the cosmics. Could even make the money better by varying the different activities and get the points to buy some items.

So, do I just buy a load of unstrung Gold amulets? If so, then I'll probably head for 99 Mining first.

You need to work out the amount of casts using the Tip.it Lunar magic guide for 99 or whatever level you'd like, that's the amount of Unstrung gold amulets you should buy. You need to also buy that number x2 (because each cast costs 2 astrals) astral runes. If you have a lava battlestaff/mud staff and a tome of frost, the other runes come free.

Buying the amulets is far, far faster than mining, smelting and crafting. If you want to DIY it all I recommend planking while chopping mahogany.

If you are going to DIY this to max 99 mining, smithing, and magic, I would recommend super-heating while mining conc. gold. This should get you to 99 in all of those skills except maybe smithing to 98ish since it is your lowest of the three.

Another option for magic is the costly but extremely fast hunter kits.

With extreme mage pots I did 93-95 mage fire surging abyssal demons. I was averaging about 120k xp/hour(according to my xp counter which factors includes hp xp so probably closer to like 100k xp/hour mage) and came out with a small profit. Might want to consider that as an option when you hit 95.

EDIT: Didn't notice you were 84 slayer.....

Unless you got 99 sum and 99 hp, I honestly wouldn't consider anything except rock lobsters.

It seems expensive at first, but once you analyze it, it really isn't that bad. Assuming 1m/hr in rune costs.

With battle robes and SoL you can reduce that to 500k.

Consider you get 110k+ mage xp, 55k+ hp xp, AND 220 crims of xp per hour.

Consider that 55k hp xp takes about an hour at pc/sw.

110k mage xp is about 30-50% slower than string ammy/plankmake.

220 crims of xp per hour is about 2 hours at waterfiends.
