Slayer tasks.

I'm currently 105 combat, 70 slayer and use Duradel. There are a few I don't really like, but I'm wondering which ones give bad xp/drops and should be blocked.

duradel gives you on average, 24 points per task.

that means you can skip 4 out of 9 tasks.

he has 28 different tasks he can assign

presumably you can block 4 of them (maybe 5, but i doubt it)

at70 slayer, you simply cannot receive 10 of these tasks.

so that leaves you with 10 tasks, 4 of which you can block.

leaving 14 tasks after blocks, of which I would recommend you pick 6 which you always skip using slayer points.

leaving you with 8 tasks to always do.

Anyways block the following:

warped tortoises (which you might not be able to receive as a task due to lack of questing)

dust devils

kalphites (unless you unlocked the new dungeon in speak to evil, and are willing to cannon)

probably waterfiends due to low combat level

the rest is up to you tbh.

Why dust devils there my favorite to do. They have good charm drops :)

because dust devils are gross.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

OK, I was planning on blocking kalphites next time I get them, and I can't do warped tortoises.

I was thinking maybe kalphites, fire giants and greater demons for now.

they aren't that good for charm drops in my experience :P

there are much better things out there at any rate.

main reason is that they're one of his most frequent tasks at his slayer level.

if that task isnt above average, even if it's slightly below average, it's worth blocking.

Pretty much what Transcript said, really.

Whenever you get a new task, try it to see if you enjoy (or at least tolerate) it, and if you don't, block it.

If you want to be as efficient as humanly possible, then yes, only block inefficient tasks regardless of your own personal feelings about some of the tasks you're stuck doing.

Personally, I try to balance fun with efficiency as much as possible - I view slayer as a fun skill, so I won't grind away on tasks I just don't enjoy - blue dragons for instance, I absolutely hate due to how crowded it is whenever I get a task of them - I know Kura's dungeon isn't always crowded, but it almost always seems to be whenever I get a task -.- so, I tend to skip those. Hellhounds, kalphites, stuff that are either crowded or annoying to kill, I block. I was going to block terror dogs as well, but I realized they aren't as bad as they were when I was a noob, so I'll tolerate those now.

Things I'll never block since I enjoy them too much and don't give a damn about them being efficient or not: metal dragons of any color. I find them fun, so I'll almost always kill them.

I don't power-slay and I don't really plan to. So I guess I'll just block the ones I don't like.

And I wouldn't block metal dragons either. :shades:

steels are significantly more difficult than irons, though. especially at lower combat levels, without rapier, without extremes and super antifire, and without turmoil, they will have a much larger reduction on total average slayer xp/h than they do if you are maxed.

however they have better effigies per hour than irons. i wouldn't perm block them because eventually you will want to do them, but cancelling them at this stage might be the way to go, depending on your priorities

Not much point in blocking steels if they die almost as fast as irons :P

Turmoil + zspear + extremes rips through them pathetically easily.

Still, it's personal choice - I don't find them any more difficult than irons to do.

You are higher level than him. It will probably take 3 hours to do one task while we take less than 1.

Yeah, I meant that comment more in comparison between us, rather than between either of us and him >.< my mistake for not clarifying. I see your point though, for him he'd do good to block steels for the time being until he's high enough combat to deal with them somewhat efficiently.

Observing my lower level slayer friend, I know how big of a difference combat levels and gear makes - it takes her about... two, two and a half minutes to kill an iron dragon, while I would take less than a minute (I think, going off memory).

Duradel is a bit differnt to Kuradel, but they both assign Kalphites so you'd be doing yourself a favour by blocking those for now and for the future. I find metal dragons to be quite fun, they can be rewarding in their drops, but it's all personal preference I guess.
