Waterfiends profit with this set up?

Samaster

Recommended Posts

I am in the middle of planning my camping trip (not tent wise) at waterfiends and was wondering what would be most efficient set up would be, taking into account the costs of prayer potions / extreme potions / degrade of maul and Karils and not wanting to loose too much as 99 summoning seconds/shards will also cost quite a bit.

I will be using extremes, turmoil and soul split...

So here are the set ups I am toying with:

1 - higher str bonus lower mage def

Neit helm

Fury

Karils top

Bandos tassets

Barrows gloves

Dragon boots

2 - High mage def

Neit helm

Fury

Karils top

Karils bottom

Barrows gloves

Infinity boots

3 - Cheep non-degradable

Neit helm

Fury

Black d'hide top

Black d'hide bottom

Barrows gloves

Dragon boots

4 - high str no mage defence

Neit helm

Fury

BCP

Bandos tassets

Barrows gloves

Dragon boots

The weapon I have chosen to do this with is the Chaotic maul and this wont be changed. However all the armour is changeable. Please advise on what would be the best, keeping in mind that I will be there for quite some time and I am willing to spend around 20m on supplies if i will make it back again.

Last question:

Just a quick other question to all of you geniuses out there, How hard is it to get full elite void, does it help if I have the normal sets already?

As far as I know waterfiends don't ever really come anywhere near profit as they don't have any amazing drops and only a few decent drops.

The only reason they are popular is because they near enough 100% drop a charm and like 99.9% of thoose charms are crimson.

If you dont use any pots you can make some profit but not alot. Going with low mag def isnt advisable, they will hit pretty often and a bunyip will have a hard time keeping up even with swallow whole scrolls from raw fish drops. Let me know if you need more info.

If you have elite void, use that.

Otherwise use this.

Neitz

Fury

K top

K bottom

D boots

Berserker ring

Barrows gloves

SW/Fire Cape

& your maul

Since you have soul-split no real requirement to pray range, EEE is good as a spec weapon as well.

Bring some alc runes for rune meds/water battlestaffs, you will make all of your cash back at least. Mithril Arrows/Water Orbs are other stackables they drop & various herbs as you start to free up your invent.

prayer pots and extremes are cheap, don't not use them under the illusion that "they will save you money".

You could also potentially just use black d-hide instead of Karils thanks to soul split, since K-Top is worth around 8m? atm.

With those stats avail & turmoil & maul you should expect close to 120 crimsons an hr.

I use this, with Korasi's to spec, 3 ovl, 10 ppots, unicorn scrolls + uni (in case I get comboed when overloading). I get about 130 crimson charms per trip, one trip is about 60.5 minutes (few second between ovls + finishing off the last fiend).

A fire cape with some more ppots would be better. With this setup, you still profit (it pays for the overloads + more).

Well berserker isn't really worth it. I recommend overload because it's better. That is, with overload you have a higher average boost than with extremes, as well as a magic and defence boost.

I don't know about luck, so far I've spent four hours and 35 minutes (4 trips + one triple charm trip) there and not lost money (about 350k loot from a normal trip, which covers 3 ovl @ 80k each and 10 ppots @ 6-7k each + uni, scrolls, maul). What many people fail to realize is that once you get to a maxed setup, you'll be killing a lot of waterfiends per hour, and the loot does add up.

Profit? people have told me there is no profit here, is it luck to get profit? Would you recommend overloads or extremes and berserker?

I've broken even or made money on every waterfiend task I've ever done. The noted water orbs, water battlestaves, rune meds, and noted snape grass add up.

I was planning to also camp them.

I would like to know how many charms i'd be able to get with this setup and these stats :

Stats :

92 Att

99 Str

91 def

95 pray (ss & turm (: )

94 magic

93 Range

69 Summ

66 herb x(

Equipement :

full elite void.

Glory

D bewts

Barrow gloves

Vigour ring

Fire cape or sw cape (which is best?)

Now for the wep i don't know what to take sara sword or zs ? (10mil max)

I know maul is best but is it really worth the trouble ?

I was planning to get crossbow & shield that when i have a higher summ lvl to be 130cb+

If u recomend it i'd like to know how much more kills i would get in an hour ?

Would a bunyip + soul split be enough for healing ?

I don't expect any profit i would just be happy not to lose any geepees.

Thanx in advance hope i don't bother the OP to much. x)

SS > ZS. Maul is worth it. DG shields mostly suck (they are worth getting if you have lots of tokens). With glory + elite void + fire cape you have 13 prayer bonus, 15 with ss/zs, that's enough so go with the fire cape.

Soul split is enough healing. I would expect ~120 crimsons/hr but you have to pay constant attention to not lose any attack turns (easier with the maul).

Thanks to all of you for your reply's I'm really quite looking forward to this slaughter.

Nostar I was not bothered in the slightest, your question actually helped me. :D

if you have normal sets already, all you have to do is finish the last void quest in the series. You will get a free elite Top, then you will need 100? commendations to upgrade your bottoms to elite, and that's it.

Basically it adds +8 prayer bonus to your void set giving you about 25 prayer if using SW cape as well.

Obviously you can use Normal void, it just won't have the prayer bonus. Also void has roughly the same magic defence as black d-hide.

Yes, get elite void for prayer bonus and the void effect of course. Ive done many waterfiend task and I can confirm you WILL always profit if you have a decent lvl and gear. You get 200-500k loot an hour, which is more than enough to cover for everything.
