ice_ring
Saw that a few people on the forums liked skateboarding, and I'm really into it right now so here it is. Skating really isn't just a sport, it's its own culture...clothes, boards, music, friends, movies, etc. Discuss your favorite skate teams, your tricks, whatever as long as its about skating! :P I've been skating around 6 months, my best trick at the moment is either my varial kickflip or heelflip, favorite grind is my 5-0. my favorite skate team at the moment is the pig team. They rock. Ragdoll has the best style of any skater I've seen, and Lizard King coming in a close second.

Tigra00
I used to skate (inline, not board) for about 2 years, it was a lot of fun, but I noticed probably 70% of people are complete posers who just buy a board or some skates (a lot more boarders than skaters do this it seems) and just stand around in some skating clothes...They looked like tools. Eventually quit, felt too old for it...I was 17 and I was pretty good at it, had grinds, spins, etc all down to the point where falling wasn't going to happen...But when you're 17, in highschool worrying about college...Skating just seems very trivial, so I had to quit. You'd think it's the prime age, but for me I guess it just wasn't in the cards...I won an amature ASA competition at our skate part, so I guess I was good...Probably should have kept on it. Hope you all who do skate have a lot of fun...I skated everyday for 2 years (literally) and during the summer it was all day long. It was probably the most fun time of my life, I met a few cool friends too that I still hang out with. If any inliner's here watch Video Groove movie's...I'm on VG15: Battle My Crew II. I think it was 15, anyways...The video is on my shelf somewhere, can't find it atm. :P I'm on there under The Foot Clan in Minnesota, there are a few clips of me and Ben Weis (now pro from Minnesota, skated with him a lot) and Mike Silva, who lost out on going pro to Ben Weis, and now I think he's stopped skating a bit because of college, dunno though, haven't talked to him in a long time. Anyone who know's who Ben Weis is, know's he's an INSANE skater and he'll try anything...He won the most insane trick contest last time I watched a contest on TV by doing a soul gring on top of some bleacher thing and then dropping onto the ground like 20 feet, I forget. It was awesome though. There's a few other guys we skated with on the Foot Clan clips, but noone's name worth mentioning. :P The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me! I am riding some Tensor trucks, Abec 5 barrings, and spitfire wheels. I won 13-15 year old skating compitition :) about 5 months ago . There was $200 in prize money too 8) . Since it's an indoor skatepark (15min drive) they have compitions alot. Only entered one since then and I lost :( . Now it's snowing here so no outdoor skateparks I can use. Sweet on winning the contest..there are a few skateparks "near" me (within 2 hours) but they aren't too big and aren't any great events. Mostly just finding spots with friends or building our own ramps for me. :(
blade995
Finding some good spots that you can skate are way better than a skatepark :D . Best of all I have 7 stairs at my house. I can gap them most of the time. About a year ago I tried it, I landed it a few times right before. Then I tried again, broke my foot. Very painfull, now everytime I try I have an uneasy feeling about it. Luckily I haven't fallen since on that set.

I love skating my friend's Flip, I dunno what it is but I have landed most of my tricks for the first time on it, maybe because its a 7.5, maybe its just lucky lol :) Just got a new zoo york dvd today with my issue of the skateboard mag, it's awesome. Sepiroth23
I stopped skating a while ago, but i will never get tired of watching rodney mullen, that guy is an absolute god. Very few people have contributed to the development of street skating as much as he has. Its been a while but from memory i had a powell deck w/ tensor trucks and blank wheels. Abec 5 bearings i think...

Very few people have contributed to the development of street skating as much as he has. Heck yes man! But yeah, I never "skateboarded" but I aggressive skated for nearly 5 years. I got really really good, then when highschool came along I sort of stopped. But I could do a whole lot of stuff. But around 7th-8th grade (3 years ago) I got into BMX biking. I got pretty good at that, did it for around 2 years.... Wall rides, bar spins, 180s, superhopps.... oh man, good frickn' times. Sp4de
I skate a Enjoi with Silver trucks, modern 51 wheels, and abec5 blackcats. I've been skating a good two years now and i'm okay. I can pull off most basic tricks and fliptricks. I learned how to fingerflip today, pretty fun stuff. Um yeah I can do pretty long spacewalks and manuals. ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâï(̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâú_o)/̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâï
blade995
Anybody ever try the handstand? I tried it a couple times fell pretty bad. Luckily i tried it on grass first and I luckily didn't try on pavement. The flatland tricks are always fun to do. If you can get them down and link them together they look awsome. Some of them ruin your board trying it though.

And all the "skaters" wonder why so many people roll their eyes and treat them with negative predispositions. It seems as though skating is the new "in" thing to do, whether or not you seem to be good at. It's just another thing that people latch on to because they feel that they lack any sort of personality or identity, and once they grow older they'll [hopefully] see the error of their ways and grow out of it. Nice to know that there are some legit skaters here :P. I remember a while ago that some kid posted about skating in indecipherable internet AIMNoob speak about how "sk8in is tehj kewl" and how the "sk8r h8rs can go 2 hell!!!1" Was rather annoying. Personally, I don't skate, but I used to scooter. The most I could do was a PopShoveIt, but then again, that's more than what many people with scooters can do :P. handed me TWO tissues to clear up. I was like "i'm going to need a few more paper towels than that luv"
