Interesting scam that could make the victim good cash

Featured Replies

I've seen quite a few scams, both as a victim and a predator, this one is interesting though. I've seen two separate groups try and do this at clan wars over the past couple of weeks. The first time I was the victim, luckily I only lost about 7m and no Chaotic. They'll ask you to join a pretty small cc (maybe 2-4 members tops, all friends).

They will start a war with another friend (only one opponent, but you aren't aware he is their friend). This particular guy was about level 115 with fury, bandos, claws, etc. You and the other 4 obviously kill him, he talks [cabbage] through the entire fight and asks for rm. The cc rematches him with items dropped, I walked in and assumed he would leave with 3 seconds left and if we were lucky he would stay and we would kill him. No surprise here he barrages and claw rushes as your team stands, watches and bids you "gf."

Unfortunately I had no food and was not expecting a barrage, I probably still should have killed him but meh, not a huge deal. The team will also ask you if you have food, just say no and maybe throw in that your prayer is slow or something, kill him and you get a pretty easy 100m+ kill.

--for the life of me I cannot remember the cc name, sorry

Jagex needs to remove dangerous CWA already. Nothing good about it and it's a cesspool of scammers/lurers.

Anti-luring these kids would be [bleep]ing hilarious if you had a DSS and Torva, as you are pretty much impossible to kill unless the scammers have a large team (more than just 4 people). Play along with their lure and then when the timer is almost at 0, throw on your Torva and Divine and summon a Pony and then rape the [bleep] out of the would-be lurers.

Sounds kind of risky - what if you actually died or they somehow managed to kill you?

Loss of Torva, and Divine? :( Doesn't sound like a good idea.

Ragequit IRL. Tbh, if you're so wealthy that you actually own a full set of Torva, there's really not that much that is still stimulating in the game. Torva really is an eleventh-hour-superpower. Its usefulness is pretty game-breaking, but the amount of effort required to get it pretty much means that by the time you do get it, you've beaten the rest of the game to a bloody pulp. So... yeah.

Just to give an idea of how powerfu torva + divinel the combination is:

steel titan>>>>>>>>>pony. Your goal is to kill them, not tank them until they run out of runes.

DK drops (solo/LS): 66 hatchets, 14 archer rings, 13 berserker rings, 17 warrior rings, 12 seerculls, 13 mud staves, 7 seers rings

QBD drops: 1 kite, 2 visages, 4 dragonbone kits, 3 effigies, lots of crossbow parts

CR vs. CLS threads always turn into discussions about penis size.
...
It's not called a Compensation Longsword for nothing.

I've sent a 12k combat mission to have Aiel assassinated (poor bastard isn't even Pincers-tier difficulty).

Depends how many of them there are. Ponies are also affected by Torva, so each scroll is around a shark's worth of LP instantly.

you can use overloads in clanwars still, youll be fine with just brews.

Regardless of how safe you feel, there is always a chance of losing your items, ESPECIALLY in the wildy, dangerous CWA, bosses, or just combat in general!

Sucks that you got scammed though. Always be on the lookout...

Couldn't agree more.

I didn't once complain or act like I was sorry for myself. This is more just a post showing how you can turn this on the lurer and make a pretty hefty profit, my loss was minimal at best.

I didn't say you did complain. Was just giving some advice. Thanks for the heads-up as well! Like it was said above...dangerous CWA really is a cesspool of scammers. angry.gif

Do you have time to pick up his stuff when you kill him? I thought clan war ended instantly after the last person was gone.

This reminds me of this thread.

This isn't in the dangerous portal, this is just a regular clan wars battle with items dropped turned on

Ahh -- I did not understand that. Most interesting.

Seems that there's more issues with Clan Wars than meets the eye ...

seen it on general pics a few days ago

Animaslayer.png

Dragon Drops: Platelegs x9, Med Helms x7, Plateskirts x4, Shield Left Half x3, At least 75+ Boots!, Hatchets x5, Ruined Shard x1, Solo Claws x2, Dragon 2Hander x1, Spear x2

Whip x27, Dark Bows x9, Draconic Visage x1

sweetol5.png <- do that when you see me :P

Poor guy who lost all his Third-Age.

Has Jagex made any mention about any fixes to this luring/clanwar business? Or even a remake of how they do the items kept on death?

o look it's this thread again

I'm a pretty frequent reader of General Discussion and I have never seen this topic. I've seen dangerous portal luring but this is much more complex and I found it interesting. If you dislike a topic I suggest you not bump it up again.

It was the second thread from the top. That's not bumping.

That is the dangerous portal

It's the same thing.

Then report it and hope it gets locked, to me they are two separate tactics in two separate portals
