Problems since last update

Featured Replies

Hi All

Anybody else got graphics problems since that last update.

Laggy, DirectX option no longer exists, cannot set Antiliasing, no high water detail.

What on earth have they done ?

I use a Mac Pro so no drivers or anything to update.

Mine is working fine, have you tried updating your graphics card's drivers?

Hi

AAARRGGGHHHHH no drivers to update, I use a Mac, sorry should have mentioned that

in the posting.

Guess it's time to buy an entirely new Mac.

I had a very similar problem (PC though) and I solved it by switching to RS's safe mode then back to Direct X or (Open GL) and all the options became available again. Then to fix full screen I entered full screen at 800x600, reverted the change and then I was able to enter at my native resolution again. I really don't know if this will work or if it's even the same problem, but just fiddle with the options and maybe they will work again.

Yeah quite a few of my clan mates are having whitescreen/graphics issues since update too

Thanks Gradeskip93 for my awesome sig!

Good thing I have a PC and can do anything I want with it. Enjoy your brick.

lol he said he had a mac pro, you can change the graphic card (sp?) at those ones ;) /offtopic

*ontopic*

I've got a mac mini and got no problems with the water detail and the anti-aliasing.

And why do you want the direct X option? Apple uses OpenGL.

Edit: What version of OS X are you using? Did you update all the security etc. updates?

DirectX option should not exist if you're running OS X. DirectX how windows handles graphics, you should be using OpenGL.

In your home directory, try removing the jagex_runescape_preferences.dat file, and then reload runescape. I'm not expecting that to change things, but check to be sure. Also make sure you're up to date with with your OS, driver updates do exist for OS X despite common belief, they're just bundled inside version updates. If you've been holding off on 10.6.6, or anything earlier, now might be the time to update. If you're up to date with your OS, check to make sure your browser is up to date as well. Safari and Chrome in OS X have been known to have issues with Java and particularly Runescape (obviously, they both run off webkit), so if you're not using Firefox for RS now may be the time to change. Failing all that, submit a bug report and dual boot into win7. You can also always try downdating your graphics drivers to see if you can get an earlier driver version to work, but I would avoid that if you can because its a hassle you probably don't want to deal with.

Also lol at the people in this thread who think they understand enough about computers to dismiss an entire operating system. Have fun being ignorant, pigheaded, and close-minded <3.

Most people don't have OSX because of the OS itself, most people hate it because Apple's marketing shoves it down people's throats like it's the cure to everything.

It's not.

And that doesn't change how little freedom you have with Apple products.

This is not a topic about Apple vs Microsoft/Windows, there are other places to discuss that.

@wingedangel

I have zero problems playing runescape while using Safari, keep in mind that while Firefox may have less bugs with Java it is also slower (at least at macs) then Safari and Chrome, but you can install more addons on Firefox.
