maxgreen1
Hey, I'm looking for a good way to make a profit without using skills or gaining exp AT ALL. One option was merchanting and investing, but I'm looking for something more sustainable where I can put my time to active use. I have previous experience tanning cowhides as a f2p, but now I'm a member, and I'm wondering if I should tan dragonhides or not. What I'm looking to address here, is the question of whether or not tanning dragonhides is a viable way to make profits. --On the one hand, soft leather is guaranteed to sell, and as long as the soft leather is worth more than cowhides, you're pretty much guaranteed profits. --On the other hand, Green, Blue, and Black Dragonleather have a greater profitDH is members-only, and because of that, fewer people can get it tanned.BUT, I'm doubtful as to the accuracy in pricing on the GE, and whether or notthe demand is high enough that I can actually make a sale. Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me? Thanks. Dude I hate siggies...
Helm_Lardar
The demand is high, especially for greens, due to the speed of crafting training. People do buy it and use it. I'm not an efficienado.
Monkeigh_Lars
Tanned dragonleather is always in demand, and I doubt those who buy 99 crafting is willing to tan all those hides themselves. So as long as G.E. tells you that you get a profit, it's probably true. Just remember you need to subtract 20GP per hide for the tanning itself. Also, depending on your stats, you could head off Yanille dungeon and pick up the dragonhides that all the bots don't pick up. Might be faster cash then just tanning, but it require you to do a few quests as well as decent defence. SwreeTak
Yes, you should be able to profit from tanning dragonhides. As Helm_Lars said especially green leather is high in demand, so you might want to do mostly green hides. Good luck with the tanning! Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
Dax
If you've done A First Resort, that helps a lot. But yeah, it's a good profit, BXP weekend would also help this at the moment, or so I'd think. #KERR2016/17/18/19/20/21. #rpgformod
That_Brown_Kid
I used to do it. It has a very high gp/h factor. Pick the right hide at the right time. Get your track spikes on and start running.
Quyneax
Due to the wilderness update, blue hides are now cheaper gp/xp than green hides (for crafting) so I imagine the demand will be higher, too. maxgreen1
Has anybody tried it?How many runs/hour can most people do? The same as any other hide, since you're only running back and forth. And thanks for all the advice folks! It's of great help. Dude I hate siggies...
Troll Bomber
Haven't done that myself for money, but another good method is unf pots if you have unlocked the scroll of cleansing. You save herbs when making unf pots and ingredients when making actual pots, so if you decided to make lantadyme unfs you would basically be getting free lantadyme herbs fast. I did this with 4k pots and it took just under an hour and a half. I had ~500 herbs left over, and was able to sell them for about 3.5M Only downside is you have to have 20k dung tokens to buy the scroll.
